There are many manufacturers spread across the web offering products which are “engineered to increase inspiratory (inhalation) muscle endurance. These companies are sprouting up across the web offering exuberant claims of improved work out performance. Most of the products are light in weight and designed for even the most strenuous activities. Particularly they are marketed to martial artists, runners, weight lifters, and rock climbers. Different products offer various features however, some of the more popular brands allow the user to change the “intensity” of the O2 by changing the screen inserts. The array of screens will offer the user different air resistances. As you train, you resistances. As you train, you would decrease the size of the screen to increase endurance.. An elevation training mask is engineered specifically for training and simulation of high altitudes for conditioning and is not the same as a gas mask. Elevation training masks are designed to help professional athletes develop a higher lactic acid tolerance in their bodies. The objective is to reduce the amount of oxygenated blood that reaches muscles during a workout. An individual with no respiratory problems can expect the following acute response to altitude. Oxygen diffusion will decrease, meaning less oxygen from the lungs to the blood and tissues. JUNE EVENTS AT A GLANCE SATURDAY JUNE 6TH Knucklehead Fights 12 “ Til lamook Cage Fights” Tillamook County Fair Grounds Tillamook, Oregon KOA Combat “EWALU” Green River Community Col lege - Auburn, Washington SATURDAY JUNE 13TH Henry Akins BJJ Seminar (Rick son Gracie Black Belt) Kent, Washington Rumble at the Roseland 82 Portland, Oregon Supposedly, the elevation training mask will literally “train your lungs and body to perform at high levels with less oxygen. The outcome would allow the body to maximize every breath. The mask is meant to strengthen your diaphragm and simulate high altitudes. When using the mask, you will increase your lung capacity, training responses, pulmonary response, cardiac response, and anaerobic thresholds (ability to work harder in conditions with less air). The Elevation Training Mask 2.0 High Altitude Simulation is available on Amazon for $74.98-$79.99.
