“Supposably”? The correct word is “Supposedly”!!! People who say “Supposably” do not realize
how ignorant they sound and other people are too
afraid to correct them. There is no such word as
“Supposably”!!!

customer service representative for my telephone
number/account number AFTER I already entered
it using the keypad on my phone. The recording
said it was supposed to “better assist me” when I
punched in those numbers while I was waiting to
talk to a live customer service rep.

Movie Critics Corner
Staring an ensemble cast including the likes of
Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, and Gwenth
Paltrow just to name a few, Contagion is a very
well crafted thriller that does a remarkable job
keeping tension high from intro to credits. Dealing
with the outbreak of a virus from unknown origins,
the story line revolves around the effects of it running rampant and the World Health Organization
attempting to develop a vaccine. However, this
movie is more of several subplots intertwined with
the viral outbreak as a backdrop to their own individual circumstances.
This film does a very amazing job of keeping
a perfect pace, never getting drawn out with unnecessary distractions yet never moving too slowly.
Every plot point is delivered on cue flawlessly
where each challenge resolved creates on to be
resolved. Another one of this film’s strongest qualities is its faithfulness to scientifically realism. Being
true to the actual procedures that would take place
in the event of a viral outbreak, the movie is very
dialogue heavy to necessarily inform the audience
of viral biology. It was more enjoyably informative than feeling like a required science class. The
sound track is also very well composed adding a
perfects audio representation as a companion to
the visual symbolism of dread and decay. Reminded me very much of Trent Reznor’s work however
it was composed by Cliff Martinez.
There really isn’t much I can say that I didn’t
enjoy about Contagion but I would consider it
an acquired taste. Very interesting plot, multiple
subplots that kept me interested, and constant
suspense more than make up for practically no
physical action which may make certain people
disinterested.

The San Jose Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect in these photos.
According to Detective Brian Meeker, on August 15, 2011 at approximately 4:10 AM , This suspect
entered the 7-Eleven store at 4270 Senter Road with a pipe and approached the counter. The suspect
allegedly told the clerk, “I’m going to rob you,” as he ordered the victim to open the register and give him
money. The suspect then came around the counter and allegedly used the pipe to hit the victim on the
head. The victim sustained a laceration to the top of his head as he struggled with the suspect. During
the struggle, the victim took the pipe from the suspect and used it to defend himself. As the suspect ran
out of the store he allegedly grabbed merchandise and fled out the door of the store.

The FBI is asking for the public’s help in capturing a bank robber dubbed
the “Mr. Magoo Bandit” who is believed responsible for nine robberies,
including two in the Bay Area. The suspect has been connected to a
Sept. 17 robbery at a Chase Bank in South San Francisco and an Aug.
29 robbery at a U.S. Bank in Novato, as well as six bank robberies in
San Diego and one in Camarillo.

Police Officer Trevor Slot was struck
and killed by a bank robbery suspect
while attempting to deploy stop sticks on
I-96 at 8th Avenue.
The two suspects had robbed a bank
in Ravenna, Michigan, and were fleeing the area when they were spotted by
on-duty FBI agents who happened to be
in the area. The agents initiated a pursuit
and were quickly joined by officers from
several state and local agencies.
The pursuit continued along I-96 at
speeds over 100 mph as the suspects
opened fire on the pursuing units with a
shotgun and rifle. As the vehicle approached the 8th Avenue exit, Officer Slot
attempted to deploy stop sticks but was
fatally struck by the vehicle. The vehicle
crashed moments later and the two suspects were shot and killed as they opened
fire on other officers.
Officer Slot had served with the Walker
Police Department for nine years. He is
survived by his wife and family.

Lieutenant Joe Szczerba was fatally
stabbed while struggling with a suspect
shortly after midnight.
Lieutenant Szczerba had responded to
backup other officers who were searching for a disorderly man near Penn Acres
Park. He located the man at East Roosevelt Avenue and Fithian Drive and, after
a short foot chase, began to struggle with
him. During the struggle the subject pulled
out a knife and stabbed Lieutenant Szczerba in the neck.
Other officers were able to take the
subject into custody. Lieutenant Szczerba
was transported to Christiana Hospital
where he succumbed to the wound.
Lieutenant Szczerba had served with
the New Castle County Police Department
for 18 years. He is survived by his wife
and family.
Lieutenant Szczerba was posthumously
promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and
awarded the department’s Medal of
Honor.

The San Jose Police Department is asking for the public’s help in
identifying the suspects in these photos. Detective Graeme Newton
reports that September 10, 2011, these suspects allegedly stole debit
card numbers and then charged up the accounts with purchases
including gift cards. The suspects also allegedly use duplicated debit
card at Best Buy in Mountain View and purchased a 32” LED TV, a PS3
Madden NFL 12 game and an R.E.D. Album. The suspects also allegedly
made purchases at the Gilroy Best Buy, the Gilroy BevMo, and later at
Target stores in Manteca and Modesto. AMEX gift cards purchased
at Target stores with stolen debit card account were allegedly used at
Costco, 7-11 stores, and Petsmart.

The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety is
asking for the public’s help in identifying four men in
connection with a stabbing at the Brass Rail nightclub,
located on Persian Drive, according to police.
Detective Jose Ramirez reports on August 14th 2011,
several men, all of whom arrived together, attacked
two people as they were exiting the club shortly after
midnight. The victims were seriously injured and taken
to the hospital. The suspects all arrived together in
a black SUV with large chrome wheels. The car may
have been a Ford Expedition.

The Los Angeles Police Department is asking the public’s help in
identifying the woman in these photos. Detective Glenn O’Shea reports
that on September 26, 2011,at about 11 AM, she allegedly held up a coin
shop near Sepulveda and Burbank boulevards. Witnesses report that she
pulled out a revolver out of her purse and told an employee to fill her bag
with coins. The value of the loss is between $12,000 and $100,000 and
she has been dubbed the “Sexy Robber”. She is described as an Hispanic,
about 5 feet 5 inches and 125 pounds and believed to be in her 20s. She
may have had a tattoo on her right shoulder. No description of a getaway
car was available. Police have clear video of her but have yet to identify
her.

The San Francisco Police Department is asking for the
public’s help in identifying the suspect in this photo. Inspector
Hanley reports that on August 30, 2011 this suspect entered
1540 Pine Street and allegedly used someone else’s identity to fraudulently purchase a brand new
motorcycle. The sales associate was able to ask the unknown suspect for this photo. The motorcycle is
described as a ($18,000.00) 2011 Kawasaki Ninja ZX1400 sports bike, black in color. The VIN number is
JKBZNC19BA026975 and the engine number is ZXT40AE064396. The suspect is described as a white
male, about 40 years of age, 6’-2” tall, 175 lbs, black hair, black jacket over a gray hoodie, blue jeans
and wearing a black helmet.

Detective Scott McCrossin reports that on Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at about 4 AM, these
suspects allegedly committed multiple auto burglaries in Los Altos. They then allegedly utilized stolen
credit cards at various locations in Palo Alto and San Jose.

San Jose Police Department is asking for the public’s help in
identifying the suspect in these photos. According to Detective
Geeno Gular, this suspect allegedly entered the Bank of the
West branch at 1010 South 10th Street and demanded money
from the teller. The suspect was allegedly armed with a
gun and was last seen wearing gray cardigan type sweater, black
collared shirt, blue jeans, brownish shoes and a black watch cap
(Beannie type cap). The suspect then fled the scene on foot. he
was last seen walking westbound on Willow Street.

San Jose police today released a sketch of a man suspected of shooting and seriously injuring
a convenience store customer during a robbery last month and are asking for the public’s help in
identifying him. The armed robbery occurred at about 7:35 p.m. on Sept. 30 at the Rancho Market
located in the 500 block of North 17th Street, police said. A man entered the store and fired at least
one round, striking a 69-year old San Jose man who was in the store. He then robbed the clerk of an
undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the scene. The shooting victim was transported to a local
hospital where he remains as of today, police said. The suspect was described as a man in his 20s who
is about 5 feet 7 inches tall and 120 pounds. He may have a tattoo near his left eye.

The Fremont Police Department and the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety are asking for the
public’s help in identifying the suspects in these photos. Detectives report that on September 13, 2011,
these two suspects allegedly robbed a Round Table Pizza in the Warm Springs area of Fremont . They
are also suspected of committing robberies in Sunnyvale on September 9th, 2011. They were allegedly
carrying an automatic pistol similar to a TEC-9.

The San Jose Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects in these photos.
According to Detective Ryan Chan, on August 7, 2011 at about 3 AM, two Hispanic males entered the
Walgreens store at 350 N. Capitol Ave. The suspects went to the cash register and allegedly used a
small purchase as a ruse to get the cashier to open up the register. When the till was opened, one of the
suspects reached over the counter, grabbed cash and fled southbound through the parking lot towards
Mckee Road.

Suspect #1 was described as an hispanic male, about 19 years old, 5’-06” tall, 150 lbs, black hair, brown
eyes and wearing a gray oversized hoodie sweater, black jeans and diamond stud in left ear.

Aparecen narcomantas de Los
Caballeros Templarios... anuncian
que llegaron a Guerrero
Durante el día de ayer aparecieron varias narcomantas firmadas por el grupo de Los Caballeros Templarios en Zihuatanejo, Guerrero.
En las narcomantas se advertía que ya habían llegado a la región y que ya no se permitirían secuestros, extorsiones, entre otras cosas.
Una de ellas fue colocada sobre el puente peatonal de la colonia Nuevo Amanecer, otra narcomanta
fue colgada en un puente de la colonia Fibazi, entre otros lugares.

Caen 36 integrantes del Cártel del
Golfo en Tamaulipas
Los grupos delictivos de Los Zetas y el Cártel del Golfo están “muy debilitados” táctica, operativa y
financieramente en Tamaulipas, sostuvo el vocero de la Secretaría de Marina, contralmirante José Luis
Vergara Ibarra, al informar sobre los operativos de los marinos en ésta entidad en los últimos días, entre
los que destaca, un enfrentamiento en el municipio de Miguel Alemán en el que murieron 10 presuntos
delincuentes y 22 resultaron heridos.
En el cuartel de la Armada de México en ésta ciudad fronteriza, el almirante destacó que el debilitamiento de los grupos delictivos se refleja en el creciente uso de camionetas pick up con blindaje “hechizo”
y porque los integrantes de estos grupos no tienen adiestramiento en el uso de armas, lo que habla de
que cada vez tienen menos recursos.
En el enfrentamiento ocurrido el pasado sábado en Miguel Alemán, dijo en entrevista, “No tuvimos ni un
herido ni una baja que lamentar”, indicó el marino quién agregó que se enfrentaron “A gente desesperada
que toma una arma” y así sin conocimientos enfrenta a las fuerzas federales.
Vergara destacó que del cinco de octubre a la fecha, la Armada detuvo a un total de 36 presuntos
delincuentes y 11 más que murieron en enfrentamientos con los marinos, y fueron decomisadas cuatro
toneladas de mariguana, 65 armas largas, cinco
pistolas, 18 mil 221 cartuchos, dos granadas
antitanque, cuatro granadas antipersonal, 35
lanzagranadas y un cohete RPG y 324 cartuchos RPG.
Además de cuatro camionetas con blindaje
hechizo, conocidas como Monstruo.
Entre los detenidos destacan, Ricardo
Salazar Pequeño, presunto jefe de la plaza del
Cartel del Golfo en Miguel Alemán y Gabriela
Gómez Flores, presunta contadora de éste
grupo delictivo.

• In the late 1700’s, many houses consisted of a
large room with only one chair. Commonly, a
long wide board was folded down from the wall
and used for dining. The “head of the household” always sat in the chair while everyone
else ate sitting on the floor. Once in a while an
invited guest would be offered to sit in this chair
during a meal whom was almost always a man.
To sit-in the chair meant you were important and
in charge. Sitting in the chair, one was called
the “chair man.” Today, in business, we use the
expression/title “Chairman.”
• As incredible as it sounds, men and women
took baths only twice a year! (May & October)
Women always kept their hair covered while
men shaved their heads (because of lice and
bugs) and wore wigs.
• Needless to say, personal hygiene left much
room for improvement. As a result, many women and men had developed acne scars by adulthood. The women would spread bee’s wax over
their facial skin to smooth out their complexions.
When they were speaking to each other, if a
woman began to stare at another woman’s face
she was told “mind your own bee’s wax.” Should
the woman smile, the wax would crack, hence
the term “crack a smile.” Also, when they sat too
close to the fire, the wax would melt, and therefore, the expression “losing face.”
• Wealthy men could afford good wigs. The wigs
couldn’t be washed so to clean them, they could
carve out a loaf of bread, put the wig in the
shell and bake it for 30 minutes. The heat would
make the wig big and fluffy, hence the term “big
wig.” Today we often use the expression “Here
comes the Big Wig” because someone appears
to be or is powerful and wealthy.

Dumb drunk with a dumb attorney
Putting the mask on AFTER they
are on camera.
This happened in 1994 in Biloxi at one of
the casinos. Some men entered the casino
to rob it. Since walking into a casino with ski
masks on would be a strong tip off before
they were in position, they waited until they
were at the cashiers that they were going to
rob and then put the masks on. That would
not have been too bad if they had been from
out of town and unknown to the casino. But
they were local residents. In fact - they were
employees of the casino. Worse, ALL of them
worked for the casino security department.
They left, went straight to one of their homes
to divide to loot, and were arrested within
minutes.
My sister is a Largo, Florida police officer.
Years ago she related this story to me of a
drunk driver they arrested. The road side stop
was done, he failed all his tests. At the police
station the tests were repeated on a flat floor
to avoid any claim of the road surface hampering his ability to pass the sobriety tests and
it was videotaped for showing in court. The
man pleaded not guilty.
During the trial the defense attorney tried
everything he could to discredit the officer, the
road side tests, the type of tests, that even
on the flat floor of the station he claimed the
tests were unfair. To prove his point he asked
to play the video the police took at the station
(here is where it became obvious the attorney
hadn’t watched the tape and was from the
same gene pool as his client) for when the
tape started, it showed his client obviously
very drunk asking if the judge would see the
tape at his trial. The officer said “yes” where
upon the drunk looked at the camera and
flipped the middle finger of his right finger at
the camera while saying “_ _ _ k you judge!”
Needless to say they promptly changed
their plea to no-contest and begged forgiveness of the court. He got the maximum sentence and fine.
Condom man goes to jail
A man in New York thought he’d surprise a
female jogger in Central Park. He hid behind
a tree and took off all his clothes and waited.
Then, when she approached, he jumped out at
her wearing only a condom and a smile. The
woman, an off-duty NYPD officer, wasn’t smiling. Neither was the flasher when she hauled
him off to jail.

Busted playing blackjack
It was the mid 1990’s in Biloxi, MS. All the
local casinos had shared data links so that
security information could be instantly sent to
each other. A man robbed one casino and fled.
His picture was instantly sent to all the other
casinos so they would know if he entered another casino to try to rob it. He did enter a casino that was just down the road, sat down and
began to play blackjack with the money stolen
from the first casino. He had not even changed
clothes and was still wearing the same bright
red ball cap. He was promptly “busted” at the
blackjack table.
