By promoting the message of international friendship and goodwill, some of the following results have been accomplished: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Access to parts of the world not open to "Westerners". Open communications with foreign government leaders. Numerous meetings with political leaders in Wash. D.C. Negotiations in progress with numerous "high profile” countries to establish trading relationships. Worked to help promote U.S. image abroad. Negotiated contracts with foreign governments that were "deemed impossible" by business professionals “Running is a great forum for breaking down walls of division between people of different cultures.” ~ Stan Cottrell 1984 China - Location: The Forbidden Zone. This part of China was shut off from the outside world for decades. I was the first foreigner many had ever seen in their lives. This is the real China I remember… the outpouring of kindness, generosity of spirit & love. Tennessee Heart Association. • 1982 - 3,500 mile "Friendship Run" across Europe - 12 countries - Edinburg, Scotland to the Rock of Gibraltar, 80 consecutive days. • 1983 - 382 mile run from Atlanta to Mobile, Alabama to benefit the Muscular Injuries & Skeletal Disease Foundation. • • 1983 - 150 mile "Friendship Run" across the Dominican Republic. 1984 - 165 mile "Friendship Run" across the Dominican Republic. • • • 1984 - 405 mile "Friendship Run" around Island of Jamaica. 1984 - 200 mile run from Atlanta to Albany, Georgia to promote Easter Seals. 1984 - 2,125 mile run across People's Republic of China - "Great Friendship Run", 53 days. The 2nd Trans-USA Run (1985). This picture was taken at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. These were some of America's finest Warriors running behind Stan, Gen. Lindsey, Commanding General, and The Chinese Runners.
