bottle. The Eisch Superior Breathable Glass™ stemware are crafted of lead-free crystal and undergo a

How To Do A Comparative Tasting:

It is recommended that you use the same size and shape
of glass for this comparison: one the “standard” glass,
the other “Breathable”. Use a glass that is as close in
shape, size and volume to the “Breathable glass”. Note:
The glasses should be cleaned the same way by hand
and rinsed in clean warm water. The comparison works
best when the bottle is opened right before tasting. Pour
the same quantity of wine in both the glasses, wait
between two to four minutes. Then taste the two. First,
smell the aromas of each. Immediately, small differences
should be noticeable. Then, take a sip from one glass
and evaluate it, followed by the other glass. Repeat the
process (smell, then sip) again. The affects of the
“Breathable Glass” are most evident with young red
wines and white wines; those which typically benefit from
at least 30 minutes of aeration before being consumed.
The impact is so dramatic with high quality wines, not
inexpensive jug or box wines.

The Eisch glass factory now for the first time utilizes THE NO DROP EFFECT© for consumer
glassware. It is employed to avoid undesirable drops when pouring drinks from carafes and duck
decanters.
Who is not familiar with this: After pouring, drops of red wine run down the outside of the decanting
carafe, and leave ugly stains on the tablecloth or on the vessel itself. With the NO DROP EFFECT©,
this is a thing of the past. Already when wine is poured, the NO DROP EFFECT© almost completely
prevents the formation of drops at the rim of the glass. As a result, no drops of red wine will run down
the outside of the carafe. This guarantees perfect stain protection of vessel and tablecloth!
The NO DROP EFFECT© is based on a special treatment of the glass surface which permanently
prevents drops from running down the outside of carafes and duck decanters.

Cork Extraction Regulator slides up and down to
adjust for partial or full cork extraction. Maximum
extraction: 2-1/8". Minimum extraction: 1-3/8". This
allows you to leave part of the cork inserted into the
bottle for manual extraction later. During a partial
extraction, the wine is not exposed to air during the
extraction process.
3. Precision Micro-circuitry - Two different motors (turning and up/down)
are coordinated for the best extraction. The machine self-adjusts to exert
more initial thrust on hard corks. A safety micro-switch will shut the
machine down if someone places a metal capped bottle in the cradle.

“I tried a controlled test myself, using an Eisch glass with the breathable technology against an
identically shaped Eisch glass made of traditional glass. Wearing my skeptic's hat and tasting from a
freshly uncorked bottle of Peter Lehmann's Clancy's, a $20 Australian blend of Shiraz, Cabernet
Sauvignon and Merlot, I came to this surprising conclusion: a very discernible difference after just three
minutes. The conventional glass had a bitter edge that was significantly less pronounced in the
Breathable Glass, while the latter exposed more fruitiness and complex layers of earth and spice. After
three hours, I was still easily able to correctly identify the glasses and preferred the Clancy's out of the
Breathable Glass. That was a surprise, since I'd expected the traditional glass to catch up, so to speak, with its
Breathable counterpart after extended exposure. Even a bit of vigorous swirling with the traditional glass didn't close
the flavour gap.”

Now there is another innovation in the world of wine. This time it's a new series of stemware called Breathable Glass. from the German
company Eisch Glaskultur. Ready for anything in the service of wine, I prepared my experiment. The (two) glasses were identical in
form and size. (…) but in the case of one of them, the trademark (Eisch) was underlined with a little wave, like a sort of breeze. This
was the Breathable Glass. Very sceptical about the whole thing, I poured the same quantity of the wine into the two glasses. After
waiting four minutes, watch in hand, the first glass showed itself to be more vinous, more severe and slightly aggressive. In the second
(the Breathable Glass) everything was more mature and more complex, with the same power but with more depth.
