DID YOU KNOW?
Take-A-Book @ the Library
The Library has a large collection of paperback
novels in a variety of different genres that are
free to the public! You can sign-out up to 10
books at one time. Bring back those same 10
- or replace them with 10 of your own - when
you’re ready for some new paperbacks to read!
WITH OUR 2013 SUMMER READING PROGRAM!
Our Summer Reading program for 2013 is scheduled for June this year. We’ll start things off
with a kickoff celebration, meet every Tuesday and Thursday, and wrap things up with a Grand
Finale. Summer Reading is for children ages 2 through the 4th Grade and is a great way to help
your child avoid the dreaded ‘Summer Slide.’ Teachers and curriculum experts agree that children
who read during the summer are better prepared for the next school year. Research conducted at
Harvard University showed that just reading 4 or 5 books over the summer helps to prevent the
summer slump. Help your child avoid the ‘slump!’ Participate in our Summer Reading program
this year! We’ll have t-shirts, prizes, reading awards and snack and story time. More information
about the program will be forthcoming in this newsletter and at the Library.

ART CLASSES FOR KIDS!
The Greenville-Butler County Public Library is exploring the
option of offering Art Classes with an instructor for grades
K-6th Grade (and possibly up!) here at the Library once per
month. The classes would be either late afternoon or early
evening. If you would be interested, please email us at
[email protected] so we can put together an accurate
head count for the instructor. There would likely be some
costs for this program for parents, but we are unsure at this
time what exactly those might be. All children are welcome,
whether they be in public, private, or home school.
HOME SCHOOL DAY APRIL 25
Homeschool Day is scheduled for Thursday, April 25 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Please consider
bringing your children to take part in a fun day of learning and experiencing the Library. Staff will
be available to assist you in finding books related to your child’s studies. Check out our new
Home School Books! Call 382-3216 for more information.
