THE CONVENTIONER News from the 66th Convention of Paralyzed Veterans of America Issue 1 Tuesday, August 14, 2012 “Big Easy” Welcomes PVA Paralyzed Veterans of America kicks off its 66th Annual Convention today in New Orleans, Louisiana ~ with the Bayou Gulf States Chapter playing host. “For 66 years Paralyzed Veterans of America has been changing lives and building brighter futures for our nation’s veterans with disabilities,” said Bill Lawson, national president of Paralyzed Veterans of America, who will chair the convention. Annual chapter awards will be presented. Individuals and corporations ~ who are making outstanding contributions to improving the quality of paralyzed GOOD TIMES ROLL veterans’ lives ~ will be honored Saturday during the annual closing awards brunch. Paralyzed Veterans of America: • Fights for all veterans with disabilities. • Advocates for quality VA health care and decent veterans benefits. • Pushes to make America more accessible. • Empowers veterans with the tools they need to secure good careers. • Invests in research to find new treatments and a cure for paralysis. • Promotes and provides wheelchair sports and recreational activities. • Delivers its services to all veterans and their families FREE of charge, thanks to the generous support and donations of the American people. “As we look to the future we must redouble the fight for quality healthcare, ample earned benefits, and fair employment opportunities in an accessible nation where people with disabilities are completely mainstream, always equal, and never an afterthought,” stressed President Lawson.
