Well
On Tuesday 27th January, we had the pleasure of welcoming
Mohammed from ‘Animals in Hands’. The whole of Year 7
had the opportunity to observe, stroke and handle a variety
of animals. The students were taught about how animals
adapt to different environments and what all living things
need in their habitats to survive. The animals included a
Tarantula, African Bull Frog, Tortoise, Chinchilla,
African Pygmy Hedgehog, Giant Hissing Cockroach,
Bosc Monitor Lizard and a 12ft Burmese Python.
Sailing Trip Sleepover
Fashion Show
Students going on this year’s sailing trip braved the night in a
freezing cold former farmhouse, on the eastern edge of Dartmoor.
With 50p for the meter and 4 bags of wood to keep the fire going
they entertained each other by creating a talent show to keep warm.
Students will be travelling on ‘Leader’ in May – one of the last two
surviving Brixham sailing trawlers. Students spent Friday evening
doing challenges in Brixham harbour where they saw the Cutty Sark
in its glory. Saturday morning was spent on the beach – the
students went into the sea and built sandcastles – the
opportunity enthused them to continue
with their fundraising.
We are hosting our annual ‘Fashion Show’ fundraising
event, for our Year 11’s Prom on Thursday 19th March.
Your support through donating prizes for the raffle and
for the auction will be gratefully received. It is a real fun
event, as well as being a great fundraiser, so if you are
able to attend please do so – with your money to buy
raffle tickets and bid on the auction!
School
production
This year’s production is ‘Thicker Than Water’ an adaptation of ‘Blood Brothers’.
The cast will be rehearsing constantly after school and on Saturdays. The cast is
amazing and this year’s show is running for three evenings, Tuesday 21st, Wednesday
22nd and Thursday 23rd April 2015. Tickets will be available for purchase from week
commencing Monday 13th April 2015 in the Atrium. Tickets are only £3, with a family
ticket of 2 adults and 2 children at the bargain price of £10!
hospital Visit
On Tuesday 13th January, 12 students
from our Whole School Council had the
opportunity and honour to visit the
Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where we
had a tour of the hospital and an insight into
some of the wards. During the tour we learnt a
lot about the hospital and future projects that will
go towards making the hospital a more comfortable
environment for the patients and their families;
this helped us to see the real difference our fundraising
could make. As our chosen charity for this year we are
looking forward to coming up with ways to raise
money to help this amazing hospital and any
donations will be gratefully received.
