YOUNG REP @ PERRY BEECHES
From September 2008 we have secured a fantastic
opportunity to work with The Birmingham Repertory
Theatre, the city's leading theatre, right here at our
school. 40 of our students will operate as members
of their Youth Theatre and learn the attributes that
are required to become a professional actor/crew
for a theatre company.
Every Wednesday afternoon students will work
towards performances that will be shown
throughout the year both on site and at their studio
theatre in Birmingham City Centre 'The Door'. The
first performance is already scheduled for Tuesday
9th December 2008 entitled 'Lion'. Being part of this
youth theatre will also offer students other benefits
such as discounted tickets and free tours of this nationally
renowned theatre.
This is a big commitment and you will need to be someone who is
passionate about the performing arts and who has what it takes
to act in front of large, public audiences. There is still a chance to
get involved. If you haven't yet
expressed an interest, see me before
its too late!!!
Enjoy your summer; we've got lots
of work to do in the new term.
Ms Martin.
Saturday 5th July saw the school
site hold its annual Site Celebration
Day! Thankfully the rain stopped and the
sun shone to make the day an olympicsized success. Over a thousand visitors from
our community attended to make the event
the best ever! We raised over £1500 which will go
to our school minibus appeal fund. Hopefully, come
September, there will be a shiny new minibus parked
at Perry Beeches School, for
our students to use.
Thank you to everyone
who got involved!
Prom Night
Friday 27th June saw the second ever School
Prom take place, this time at The Paragon
Hotel in the south of the city. What a night
it was! Everyone looked amazing, and had
put a lot of time and effort into making sure
they dazzled as they arrived in all manner of
swanky modes of transport. We had Hummers,
Limos, a Fire Engine and even horse-drawn
carriages bringing the Year 11 students to their
Prom Night. The Prom committee did us proud,
and the event was the final part of what had been
a quite emotional day for Year 11. Earlier in the day, they had
their last assembly ever at Perry Beeches School, and were
accompanied by parents as they received their progress files. I
will miss them all, and look forward to seeing them get their
GCSE results in August!
If you would like to see more photographs from the event, go

ROUNDERS!
Well done to the Year
8 rounders team - on
5th June the mixed team won the Kingsbury
Partnership rounders tournament!
SPORTS AMBASSADORS
In the current year 9 & 10 the school now has 10
sports ambassadors in each year. It is a project that
is being run in several schools across the country &
the aim is to train them to act as role models and
promote sport, P.E & healthy living & to build on the
excitement of the London 2012 games. They have
already started their training and attended a session
to develop their leadership skills on 20th June as
well as leading activities at the primary sport relief
fundraiser on Friday 4th july. they are now going to
start leading lots of events within our school and
primaries. The students involved are:
