first
meeting
Jennifer Salvaggio and Jordin Tootoo—an
NHL player for the New Jersey Devils—
met as teenagers in Brandon, Manitoba.
The two caught each other’s eyes at a
youth hockey tournament and started
dating, but the relationship fizzled when
Jordin moved to Tennessee to play for the
Nashville Predators. Five years later, Jordin
contacted Jennifer and suggested they
meet for dinner in Vancouver where she
was living at the time. The couple picked
up exactly where they left off and have
been inseparable ever since.
seaside
proposal
Jordin proposed in July of 2013 at
Vancouver’s Stanley Park. The couple
was visiting the park along with
Jennifer’s family who was in town for
her grandmother’s birthday and for the
engagement (Jordin had filled them in on
his surprise proposal plans). The group
was walking along the Seawall when
Jordin pulled Jennifer aside for a quiet
moment and proposed. “He got down
on one knee and asked me if I would
marry him. Of course, I screamed ‘yes!’”
shares Jennifer. “I was literally shaking,
he couldn’t even put the ring on! It was
incredible to have my family there; the
proposal was just perfect!”

The couple were married on July 19, 2014
at the Pan Pacific Hotel Vancouver.
Jennifer has a passion for party planning
and sourced a talented team of creative
professionals to bring the couple’s dream
day to life. The bride also planned a
weekend full of activities so the couple
could spend ample time celebrating with
their loved ones. Jessica Minnie of Petite
Pearl Events was hired to assist with
co-ordination a month leading up to the
wedding and day-of.
style
notes
Jennifer wore a mermaid-style gown
by Pnina Tornai from Kleinfeld Bridal
in New York. The off-white, lace gown
featured one of Pnina’s signature formfitting corsets and was embellished with
Swarovski crystals. For the ceremony,
Jennifer accessorized her gown with a
Sara Gabriel veil from Ottawa’s The White
Dress Bridal Couture. She also wore
a gold Cartier Love bracelet that was a
wedding gift from Jordin. Her shoes were
metallic, strappy sandals embellished with
crystals from Jimmy Choo. Hair stylist
Eliza Trendiak of Trendi Creative and
makeup artist Jag Dhahan completed the
bride’s look.
Jordin was dressed in a custom
Ermenegildo Zegna suit and Salvatore
Ferragamo shoes, both from Harry Rosen.
Elsa Corsi of Jeweliette custom designed
Jennifer’s dazzling jewellery for the day,
including marquise crystal earrings.

Jennifer’s breathtaking, oversized bouquet
used a combination of David Austin roses and
spray roses in barely-there shades of pink.
ceremony
The ceremony was held outdoors on the pool terrace of Vancouver’s Pan Pacific Hotel, much to
Jennifer’s relief! It had rained all morning so the initial decision was to move things indoors. An hour
into setup for an indoor ceremony, Jennifer caught a tiny glimpse of blue sky peeking through the
grey clouds. Intuitively, she decided to take a risk and move the ceremony outdoors as originally
planned. “It was the best decision I made! It stopped raining, and the sun came out in the afternoon.”
Bridesmaids wore strapless, black floor-length
dresses designed by Bill Levkoff and purchased
online at The Wedding Shoppe, Inc.
The canopy was embellished with mounds
of pink and ivory blooms. Custom boxwood
panels provided privacy for the emotional
“I Do’s” that were officiated by Thomas
Spiridigliozzi, the bride’s uncle. “When my
uncle pronounced us husband and wife the
energy just went off! It was an amazing feeling,”
recalls Jennifer.
Event designer Sandy Godfree
from Art of the Party Design
Inc. orchestrated the wedding
decor and overall look of the
day. She worked closely with
the bride and Suzane Lee of
Granville Island Florist who
designed all of the floral.

cocktail
reception
To contrast the soft pink ceremony decor, Jennifer wanted the cocktail
reception to have a bit of an edge. Black velvet couches were placed in the
ballroom foyer and were paired with mirrored side tables. Pan Pacific Hotel
Vancouver passed hors d’oeuvres and Kusshi oysters (grown in the waters off
of Canada’s Vancouver Island) were served.
pretty-in-pink
reception
In honour of the groom, Art of the Party Design Inc. created a custom escort
card table that mirrored an ice hockey rink complete with boards and real ice
from Cool Creations. Escort cards, designed by Flourish by Colleen Winton,
replicated hockey trading cards and were presented inside mini pucks. The
cards also featured a photo of the couple with fun statistics about their
relationship and served as wedding favors for guests to take home at the end
of the night.

An elaborate reception followed in the Crystal Pavilion. The room boasts a
stunning canopy of crystals. The walls of the room were draped in ivory chiffon
and tables were covered with soft pink, rosette table linens.
The head table featured the same two large centrepieces seen earlier at the
ceremony along with a floral runner of pink and white blooms and an array of
candles in crystal holders. The chairs at the head table were decorated with silk
chiffon that was gathered at the back with custom brooches from Art of the
Party Design Inc. “Our head table blew us away,” remembers Jennifer.
Two lounge areas were set up in the space with mirrored tables and soft pink
couches for guests to relax. A gobo light projected a monogram of the couple’s
initials (designed by Wintons Social Stationery) onto a large, white dance floor.
Blush pink uplighting further added to the fairytale-like feel of the event.
“It was soft, romantic,
and absolutely stunning.” –Jennifer

sweet
fantasy
Sam Pero of Italia Bakery created
the couple’s pink and ivory cake
with gold accents that matched the
wedding’s colour scheme. The cake was
placed under the custom canopy that
was used for the ceremony and was
accented with a crystal chandelier. Italia
Bakery also produced a spectacular
dessert table with mini cakes,
monogrammed cookies, and a selection
of Italian desserts as a nod to the bride’s
Italian heritage. The dessert area also
included a macaron tower created by
Soirette and candy provided by The
Candy Aisle.

highlights
Pan Pacific Hotel Vancouver catered a memorable
meal that included a midnight snack of poutine
and short rib sliders. “Food was important, as I
am Italian and I worked in the service industry
for a long time. I wanted to make sure guests had
exceptional service and the Pan Pacific Hotel
provided this without a doubt,” says Jennifer.
Capture the Moment Media was on hand to
document the entire day on video and produced a
Same-Day-Edit that was screened after dinner.
The Collective You was also hired by the couple to
provide lasting keepsakes. Black and white portraits
of guests were printed on 8x10 polaroids for the
couple’s guestbook, with a second copy for guests
as a souvenir.
The Famous Players Band performed in the
evening and DJ Leanne from Girl on Wax kept
the party going until 4am. “We had only invited
adults, so I wanted everyone to just let loose and
have the best time. My entertainment was a big part
of making sure people were on their feet,” shares
Jennifer. “I was truly that little girl who always
dreamed of walking down the aisle, and to see my
dream become a reality and all the hard work come
together was indescribable!”
hawaiian
honeymoon
The couple honeymooned in Hawaii and stayed at
the luxurious Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea.
They had their own cabana by the pool and enjoyed
couples massages every day of their stay!
