GRUNDY CENTER — Two
young men were given fines on
charges of operating a motor
vehicle while under the influence of a n intoxicating
beverage and a 19-year-old
Hardin county girl was given
a one year suspended sentence
at the Women's Reformatory at
Rockwell City in Grundy County
District court Friday by Judge:
Peter Van Metre.
John P. Wilson, 26, of Dubuque pleaded guilty to the
drunken driving charge and was
fined §300 and costs and his
drivers license suspended for
120 days. He had been arrested
Dec. 19, in Reinbeck on the
first offense charge. The fine
and costs were paid.
Frank Eugene Sprague of
Evansdale was fined §500 and
costs and his drivers license
suspended by 120 days. This
was a second offense for
Sprague. He had been arrested
by local officers Oct. 31, 1971,
in the town of Grundy Center.
Sprague was given until Feb.
18 to pay the fine.
Donria Sizemore, 19, of New
Providence, entered a plea of
guilty to a charge of resisting
an officer during a disturbance
at the Keith Meyer residence
the night of Dec. 23rd. The
Deputy Sheriff and I o w a
Highway Patrol were called to
the Meyers farm where Miss
Sizemore allegedly struck the
patrolman and resisted arrest.
Judge Van Meter gave her
a suspended one year sentence
at the Women's Reformatory at
Rockwell City and paroled her
on good behavior to the sheriff
of Hardin County as she is a
resident of that county.

CHARLES CITY—There were
45 auto accidents with 7 injuries
in Charles City, during December of 1971, compared to 53 accidents and 8 injuries during the
same month in 1970, it was revealed in a report issued from
the office of John 0. Gordon,
chief of police. The report revealed 444 auto accidents in 1971
with 104 injuries compared to
492 accidents and 126 injuries
during the same period of time
in 1970. There were two fatalities in two motor vehicles in
traffic accidents in the city during 1971.
The arrest report showed the
illegal possession of beer charge
leading with nine persons cited
for this offense during December of 1971.
The total number of arrests
for 1971 was 904.
