GOD LOOKS AT THE HEART
The First Reading of this Sunday (I Sam. 6: 113) presents God looking at the hearts and not
at superficial appearances. God chose the last,
the youngest, the ignored, because he looks at
the heart of persons and knows the future; He
also knows what He is going to achieve
through the persons He chooses. The poor
and the humble have a future because God
looks on them.
God doesn’t choose qualified people to carry
out His mission; he qualifies the people he
chooses.

HUMOR CORNER
The 98 year old Mother Superior was
dying. The nuns gathered around her
bed trying to make her last journey comfortable.
They gave her some warm milk to drink but she
refused. Then one of the nuns took the glass
back to the kitchen. Remembering a bottle of
whiskey received as a gift, she opened it and
poured a generous amount into the warm milk.
Back at Mother Superior’s bed, she held the
glass to her lips. Mother drank a little, then a
little more, and before they knew it, she had
drunk the whole glass down to the last drop.
“Mother,” the nuns asked anxiously, “Please,
give us some wisdom before you die.” She raised
herself up in bed and with a pious look on her
face said, “Don’t sell that cow.”
KNOWLEDGE IS LOVE,
LIGHT AND VISION
Helen Keller used to say: “ I got used to the
silence and the darkness that surrounded me
and forgot that it had ever been different until
she came –my teacher– who was to set my spirit
free. A power divine touched my spirit and gave
it life. From that sacred moment, I heard a voice
which said, ‘Knowledge is love and light and
vision!’”
Although Keller never regained her sight or her
hearing, she went on to experience the beauties
and mysteries of life with such clarity that she
was able to share what she called her “soul’s
sudden awakening” with others. In her
blindness, she has helped many to see; in her
deafness, she has enabled many to hear.
SOMETHING TO PRAY
AND THINK ABOUT
May God send you
enough joy to keep your heart singing,
enough sorrow to make you understanding,
enough hope to enrich your life,
enough trials to keep you strong,
enough leisure to refresh your spirits,
enough love to make the world seem beautiful.

Fourth Sunday of Lent
The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
— Psalm 23:1
Sunday’s Message
John 9: 1 - 41
“The man said, ‘Lord, I
believe’,
and
worshipped
Him”.
In today’s Gospel we see that
the man born blind has no
previous knowledge of Jesus or
His identity, but meeting Jesus
changes his life and his outlook
on life and its purpose. His
belief in Jesus and his
acceptance of Jesus as Lord
mean that he will never be the
same again.
I WAS BLIND AND NOW I SEE
Jesus cured a man blind from birth. He put mud
on his eyes and commanded him to go and
wash in the pool of Siloe. As he felt the water
on his face, he began to see. (John 9:1-41) Until
that moment the life of this man was reduced to
Pastor’s Notes begging for alms, without being able to see
whoever helped him. Now his life changed.
Initially, he did not see Jesus, but felt His kindly hands caressing
his face with the soil of the earth. And when the religious leaders
asked him, harassing and insulting him, he answered full of faith:
“One thing I know: before, I was blind and now I see.”
There was a marvelous and famous American woman who died
some years ago- a model of overcoming tremendous obstacles. Her
name is Helen Keller (1880-1968). She was not born blind, but at
the age of 19 months, suffered a terrible illness which left her blind
and deaf. In spite of her many other talents, she withdrew into total

Cuarto Domingo de Cuaresma
El Señor es mi pastor,

Mensaje del Domingo
Juan 9, 1– 41
“El hombre dijo: ‘Señor, yo
creo’; y le adoró”
ESTABA CIEGO Y AHORA VEO
Jesús curó a un ciego de nacimiento. Le puso
lodo en los ojos y le mandó irse a lavar a la
piscina de Siloé. Al sentir el agua en su cara
comenzó a ver (Juan 9,1-41).

antes estaba ciego y ahora veo”.
En el Evangelio de hoy vemos
que un hombre, ciego de

El Evangelio de hoy nos anima,
al mismo tiempo que nos
recuerda que nuestro camino de
fe es siempre un proceso que
lleva a la iluminación. Es algo
progresivo; al mismo tiempo
que avanzamos en el camino,
nos vamos conociendo mejor a
nosotros y al Señor. Si lo
hacemos con ánimo sincero y
serio, el Señor removerá
nuestra falta de visión, hasta
que un día podamos verle cara
a cara.

QUIERO VER, QUIERO CREER
Están mis ojos cansados
de tanto ver luz sin ver;
por la oscuridad del mundo,
voy como un ciego que ve.
Tú, que diste vida al ciego
y a Nicodemo también,
filtra en mis secas pupilas
dos gotas frescas de fe.
Porque, Señor, yo te he visto
y quiero volverte a ver,
creo en Ti y quiero creer.
Gerardo Diego
¿COMO RESPONDER
ANTE UN INSULTO?
La única manera digna de responder a un
insulto es hacer caso omiso del mismo;
desarrollaremos las energías del amor;
y entonces, por segunda vez
en la Historia del Universo,
el ser humano habrá descubierto el fuego”.
Teilhard de Chardín
