Fourth Sunday of Lent
RCIA - The Scrutinies
This weekend at the 11:AM Mass we celebrate the Second Scrutiny
for those in our catechumenal process who are in their final stages of
preparation for initiation at the Easter Vigil. The scrutinies are very direct
and powerful prayers that ask God's protection for the Elect. In these rites,
we pray for deliverance from evil and protection against the demonic forces
that attempt to enslave the disciples of Jesus.
The Gospel reading used for this liturgy comes from John Chapter 9, "The
Man Born Blind" who received his sight from Jesus. The Elect and Candidates
are asked to look into their hearts to see what blinds them and keeps them
from the Light of Christ. We invite all the members of SP & SP to join in this
discernment and pray that we, too, can be open to the receiving the Light that
shines before us in the person of Jesus Christ. Last Tuesday evening the
Elect were formally presented with the Creed. This is the prayer that all
Catholics recite every Sunday during Mass. The Creed reminds the Elect of
the promises that they will make when they receive Baptism and Confirmation
at the Easter vigil.
Please join us in praying for our Elect and Candidates during these final
weeks of preparation. Please also take a minute to view their photos in the
vestibule so you can familiarize yourself with our soon to be newest members
of the Church. For those interested in learning more about the Catholic faith,
please join us.
Adults meet every Tuesday from 7:30PM to 9:30PM in the Parish Library.
Please call one of the numbers listed in the parish directory for further details.
Marriage
Moments:
"Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his
parents, that he was born blind." (Jn
9:2) Figuring out blame is a trap that it
is easy for even loving couples to fall
into. One of the sweetest phrases I
hear from my husband is, "Honey, you
were right." Said honestly, it can be a
healing balm.
RCIA - Teaching Moments:
Explain the different types
of “Holy Oils”
There are three types of Holy Oils. “The
Oil of Catechumens”, “The Oil of the
Sick”, and “Chrism”. The first two are
blessed and the third is consecrated by
the Bishop at the Mass of Chrism on Holy Thursday morning in the
Cathedral Church. In our Diocese, the Cathedral Church is Our Lady
of the Rosary Cathedral located in San Bernardino. The Oil of Catechumens is used at the Easter Vigil Liturgy for adult converts and also
in all Baptismal Liturgies. The Oil of the Sick is used for the Sacrament
of the Anointing of the Sick. Chrism is used in the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Orders, and other consecrations such as the
dedication of a new Altar.
March 06, 2016
(And all this is from God,who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and given us
the ministry of reconciliation, namely, God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ,
not counting their trespasses against them and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. So we are ambassadors for Christ, as if God were appealing through us. We
implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.For our sake he made him to be
sin who did not know sin, so that we might become the righteousness of God in him.)

Heaven On Earth…..
Come spend some time in the quiet presence of our Lord.
Bask in the warmth of His love.
"Mary's adoration was profound, interior, intimate. It
was the gift of herself. She offered her whole self to
the service of love of the Eucharistic God. For love
lays down no conditions, makes no reservations; it
thinks no longer of self, lives no longer for self; it is a
stranger to itself and lives only for the God which it
loves. Everything in Mary was directed to the Blessed
Sacrament as Its center and end. A current of grace
and love established itself between the Heart of Jesus-Hostia and the heart of Mary-Adoratrix. These
hearts were like two flames blended into one. God
was then perfectly adored by His creature,"
- St. Peter Julian Eymard

WHO IS JESUS?
GOSPEL REFLECTIONS ON THE MEANING OF
JESUS FOR US TODAY
SCRIPTURE STUDY FOR WINTER/SPRING, 2016
We call Jesus the Christ, “the Anointed One,” but who really was he and why has he
had such an impact on the world? His vision for the world as it should be and his
knowledge of and relationship to God, his “Father,” are as compelling today as they
were some 2000 years ago.
Our scripture study gives an overview of what is known about Jesus from the Scriptures, the historical record of his time, in order to gain a more complete picture of Jesus
and his message. Each week we focus on a specific image/title for Jesus through a key
Gospel passage that will offer us another piece of the puzzle of who Jesus is and the
meaning he has in our own lives and also in our world today, so that we can more
strongly affirm that Jesus is “the Way, the Truth, and the Life.”
Our Scripture Study continues on Monday evenings, from 7:00 – 8:30 pm in the
St. Augustine room of our JPII Center and for those who prefer a study during
the day, Thursday mornings, from 9:00 – 10:30 am in our parish Library. There is
a minimal fee for our textbook. Please bring your Bible.
For further information, please contact Mary Ann Andel at 909-987-9312 x 250.

their colors. There is strength and protection in numbers. Carry Jesus into

Come join us Tuesday evenings in the chapel for praise and worship.

personas. Como padres se prepararan para el bautismo de sus
hijos, nuestro Ministerio de Bautismo ofrece amor y apoyo durante todo el proceso.
El Sacramento de Bautismo se
ofrece en Inglés y Español.

Attention!
DIVORCED, WIDOWED, &
SEPARATED WOMEN & MEN
“Yesterday is experience, tomorrow is
hope…today is getting from one to the
other”
Any adult who is currently experiencing (or within
the last 3-4 years), a separation, divorce or widowhood is invited to join this group, there is no age
limit. This was a much needed and active support group here at St. Peter & St. Paul
from 1982-2002. Unfortunately, our spouses die and so does love, so the need for this
ministry is still viable today. There will be discussions on various topics that affect the
group’s needs and you will have the chance to share, if you like, with others that are
having to cope with many of the same situations and emotions as you are. It takes time
but you will begin to realize that there is life after death of a marriage or death of a
spouse. By the bond of our Catholicism, and your ministering to each other through
your sharing, trust, and respect for each other through Christ, group members will
accept their situation, learn from it, heal, and forgive. You will move forward with peace

Cancer affects a person physically,
emotionally, psychologically, mentally,
spiritually, and socially. Many times it is
difficult to share one’s feelings with family members or friends. This group
provides an opportunity to share your feelings and experiences with others in
a caring and safe environment. By your sharing and supporting one another it
will help give you the courage to cope with your journey regardless of what
type of cancer you have.
Judy Nelson, 909-880-4389 Contact/Facilitator
“I refuse to walk in the shadow of cancer and look forward to my future with
hope, endurance, love, and laughter.”
Judy Nelson, 02/08/08
I am love and mercy itself. …
Let no soul fear to
draw near to Me, even though its sins be
as scarlet.
… My mercy is greater than your sins,
and those of
the entire world. … I let my Sacred Heart
be pierced
with a lance, thus opening wide the
source of mercy
for you. Come then with trust to draw graces from
this fountain. … the graces of My mercy are drawn
by the means of one vessel only, and that is trust.
The more a soul trusts, the more it will receive.
