SUCCESS STORY BY SUNDAS JABEEN (GUJRAT) School TB
SUCCESS STORY BY SUNDAS JABEEN (GUJRAT) School TB Clubs Team visited Govt. Girls High School Jalalpur Jattan in Jan. 2010, for awareness campaign and establishing TB Club. The team delivered an awareness lecture and distributed the flyers about TB. The lecture was attended by more than 500 students, in which they were told about symptoms and preventive measures regarding TB and were introduced to the TB Club project regarding its aims, objectives and activities. Student’s Introduction: Sundas Jabeen is a student of class 9th in Govt. Girls High School Jalalpur Jattan and is a member of School TB Club; she has referred a case of Pulmonary TB. Her scanned story and Patient’s record is attached My name is Sundas Jabeen. I am studying in class 9 in Govt Girl High School. I am member of school TB club program. I belong to jalalpur jattan. I delivered TB information to my class fellows, relative, family members and neighbors. I met a TB suspect during the awareness campaign about Tb. When I told her TB symptoms then she said she have these symptoms. I advised her to go to nearest Hospital. She went to civil hospital and took TB test and came to know that she had TB. I asked her to take medicines for 8 months. When she came back, she told me that she had TB and doctor advised to take medicine for 8 months. I told her that TB is a dangerous disease and it spread through cough and spiting. So you should use handkerchief during cough and use a separate pot for spiting and put dust on it so that germs are died and reduce the danger of spread of TB. She asked that is TB a curable disease? I asked her not to worry and you will be 100% fit after 8 months treatment. Then she said I don’t have enough money to bear the expenses of medicines. I told her that treatment and medicines of TB are free of cost in Pakistan. She started the treatment. Doctor gave her one month medicine and called for check up in next month. When sajida bibi’s family came to know about her disease, they left her alone. One day I went to her house to see her. I came to know that her family separated her utensils and other things. I asked her family that instead of taking care of patient you separated her. That is a bad behavior. If TB patient use precautions, nobody got infection. It means if sajida bibi use handkerchief during cough and sneeze then TB never spread. You can use her used utensils after washing. After hearing all that hr family satisfied. She completed her 5 months treatment. One day sajida bibi said that now she didn’t TB symptoms so was she stops the treatment. I said no way; uncompleted treatment is equal to suicide. If you left the treatment then it became more dangerous. That dangerous TB is very expensive. Sajida thanked me for providing more information. After one month she felt better and doctor changed her medicine. She completed 8 months and now she feels healthy. To get a healthy nation, get rid of TB. I want to tell through this story that TB is curable. I am very thankful of School TB club Program team that they make us able to end this disease from our society. (Patient name is SAJIDA PARVEEN 40 yrs old from JALALPUR JATAN have completed her 8 months treatment course for pulmonary TB. Treatment completed on 03/05/2010)
