Rondo Avenue, Inc. (RAI) is happy to announce the 30 year celebration of the Rondo Days Parade and Festival. This year’s
theme has been deemed “Rondo 2K13: 30 Years Strong & United”. Rondo Days is the celebration of Minnesota’s historical
predominantly African American community in St. Paul, a community virtually eliminated by construction of the I-94 freeway.
The Rondo Community was a thriving community that helped to establish Minnesota’s African American institutions,
community values, and educational aspirations. Rondo created such luminaries as: Roy Wilkins, Executive Secretary of the
NAACP during the Brown vs. Board era, and Gordon Parks, a ground breaking photographer for Life Magazine and director of
the critically acclaimed movie Shaft.
In 2012 over 55,000 people attended the Rondo Days events which traditionally include: the Senior Recognition Dinner, the 5K
Walk & Run, the Grande Parade and the Festival. This event is part of St. Paul’s cultural fabric and we are inviting you to
contribute to this tradition.
2013 is a seminal year! RAI would like to highlight this year with a one of a kind and long awaited performance by the
hometown national group Mint Condition. The members of Mint Condition met as teenagers growing up in the

Twin Cities—Minneapolis-St. Paul - amidst a thriving music scene energized by Prince, The Time, Jimmy Jam & Terry
Lewis, The Replacements, Soul Asylum and many other artists. Keyboardists Larry Waddell and Keri Lewis, guitarist
Homer O'Dell, keyboardist/saxophonist Jeffrey Allen, drummer/vocalist Stokley Williams, and bass player Ricky Kinchen
came together in the performing arts program at St. Paul Central High School. Playing together in different
combinations led them to form Mint Condition. A gig at the famed First Avenue club in 1989 caught the attention of
super-producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, formerly of The Time, and they were signed to Jam & Lewis' Perspective
Records. It is only fitting that Mint Condition plays a significant role in this year’s 30th Anniversary Celebration of the
Rondo Days Festival.
Mint Condition has verbally agreed and tentatively locked in Saturday July 20th to perform at the Rondo Days Festival
and is looking forward to cap off the Rondo 30th Anniversary Celebration with a “banging” performance. Click the

This tradition is sustainable only with the continued financial support of individuals and organizations throughout the greater
Twin Cities area. There is an old saying used throughout the Rondo community that still survives, “It takes a village.” We
believe that your organization is a part of that village and we’re asking for your contribution towards the cost of professional,
outdoor staging and set-up, sound engineering and stage management so that we can provide Mint Condition with the
desired conditions to provide a the high quality performance they are used to in an indoor facility.
As a Mint Condition & Stage sponsor, your organization will receive exposure to over 55,000 participants, access to respected
media outlets such as KMOJ and KFAI radio, local television stations and coverage in local newspapers such as the Saint Paul
Pioneer Press, Star Tribune, Spokesman Recorder, Insight News and many other printed and online media. But most
importantly, this event gives your organization the opportunity to establish a long term relationship with a community that is
extremely loyal to those whom support and understand its unique history.
RAI is seeking to raise $21,500 to cover the cost of the Mint Condition and local band performances, staging and production
and would like to secure a maximum of 5 sponsors that are willing and capable of providing the necessary funding as early as
June 30, 2013 and no later than July 15, 2013. Please review the sponsor benefits on the following page to determine how
