Message from the President
Welcome to 2014!!!
I am looking forward to this next year filled with fantastic cars, fantastic times and of
course…FANTASTIC PEOPLE!!!
One of the things I look forward to is seeing Classical Glass Corvette Club reunite. What I
mean by that is not necessarily putting aside our differences but…embracing them and using them to make the
club what it was and continues to be…a premier car club that draws other like minded people to it and grows
stronger.
It would be easy to write about the Bylaw changes, increase in dues, my opinion on why a few of our long time
prominent members have formed another club. I usually don’t do things the easy way so why start now.
CGCC was started by some like minded people with a common interest…CORVETTES!! The social aspect of getting
together with some other people with a cool car and hanging out is very appealing. You see it everywhere whether a person has a Camaro, Mustang, BMW and even a Miata. OUR club happens to be a CORVETTE club and that
is why my wife and I joined CGCC. The technical feedback from the gear heads, the pride of showing off your car
and having it judged against other cars in the same class as yours. Partying and playing with the people who have
formed the ability to do just that.
OUR club has been around for quite a while (40+ years) and the founding members set a precedent and created
bylaws for the rest of us to follow. We are all aware of time changing how the club conducts its business, conducts it car shows, and conducts itself at membership meetings.
CGCC did not have “25 Year” members 25 years ago, did not have financial responsibilities to a plethora of outside entities. CGCC is fortunate to have had, and still does, a lot of well meaning people with big hearts that have
dug deep for many years to help keep CGCC going. Sadly, I cannot associate a face with the names of many, a
name on a club roster that I have to ask myself…”Who is that?”
The last several years I have seen CGCC “morph” from a social club to a more service oriented club. I respect all
of the services CGCC supports. CGCC chose to support them with monies the club generated having fantastic
events…COOL! CGCC should always be self supporting and remain a non-profit club. I also believe the club has a
responsibility, first and foremost, to itself. I do not believe the club had the foresight many years ago to imagine
CGCC being the size it is today…even after splitting up and forming another club…and now again splitting and
forming yet another club. That being said, CGCC has changed its bylaws many times to reflect the changing times
we currently live in. My kids listen to different music than I do, my dad listens to his music, and it continues down
the line. But it is all music and I know I have caught my dad tapping his foot to a couple of tunes my grandkids
listen to. The same is true throughout our clubs membership. We have all seen times change and have adapted.
Let us adapt using the knowledge and wisdom that has made our club strong.
MY SOAPBOXYou are a member of Classical Glass Corvette Club and are instrumental in the clubs activities and how the club
functions as a whole. The Executive Board has a responsibility to conduct business and be proper stewards of the
clubs affairs. The membership has a responsibility to be present at the activities of the club and present all

concerns to the Executive Board for any action that needs to be taken. ALL of this activity needs to be done in a
democratic and transparent manner. Do I really need to say more?
OFF SOAPBOXI consider serving as Classical Glass Corvette Club President an honor. The club has chosen me to lead, be judicious, and oversee all aspects of the club. My intention is to do exactly that. The principles of democracy state
that elected and appointed officials are to be responsible and accountable to the people for their actions. I fully
agree with that definition. I can only do so with the support of my constituents.
So…enough of that…
I look forward to seeing everybody at the February membership meeting, as well as through out 2014!
Respectfully,
Dennis Petersen

Community Service
Hello and Happy New Year to all our members, and Welcome to all our new members.
The Washington Soldiers Home in Orting received their check from the 5 Star funds earned as did the Family Renewal Shelter. Thank you to everyone who volunteered and worked on the 2013 5 Star Car Show. In
addition a BIG THANK YOU goes to all the members who provided gifts for the soldiers and the families.
Now that the new year has begun, we hope to continue to fund both of our community partners as well or
better than we did in 2013! The easiest way to help raising funds for both partners is to volunteer for the 5
Star Fundraising Event in 2014. Another way is to donate money to the “zebra box” as it is passed around
at each membership meeting. This money goes directly to the Family Renewal Shelter each month. For
more information regarding the Shelter, there are flyers on the table at each meeting. The mission of the
Family Renewal Shelter is to rescue families threatened with extreme violence and to help them become
thriving survivors with the needed resources to rebuild their lives so they may have a happy, successful
future. CGCC has been donating to FRS for 22 years.
If you have any questions for me please email me at [email protected]
See you at the meeting in February.
Sincerely, Jan Landry

IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN!
IT’S TIME TO PAY YOUR DUES AND INSURANCE FEES
As you may or may not know; because of higher costs to run the club, we had
to increase the yearly dues for 2014. Since we last raised the club dues we
have incurred the cost to rent our meeting room at the Elks Club, we now rent
a storage unit for our club’s supplies, and our other normal operating expenses
have increased. Also our insurance coverage has changed; we now cover our
Officers and Directors as well as all the regular members, with liability insurance. We mitigated the increase by moving from NWACC to NCCC, which offers
more coverage with less cost.
The Dues actually consist of two parts: Half is the club’s operations expenses
($35) and the other half is the cost of the insurance ($35). So next year’s dues
will be $70 per Family Unit.
Lifetime members and 10 year members will only be asked to pay the $35 insurance cost. The club will cover the operations costs.
Honorary Lifetime members (2) and Founding members (2) are exempt from
paying any dues or insurance fees.
Dues and/or Insurance fees must be paid by February 8th. If not paid by the
end of the General Meeting an additional $5 late fee will be added. If not paid
by March, 2014, you will be removed from the Club Roster.

Yes, the 2014 Caravan is coming this August,
but there are other events on the calendar that
happen before the Caravan. One of my favorite events is the annual Bash. There is always
something new at this event and GM engineers to talk about what’s new. This year is
no exception. It will be my first opportunity
see the new Z06.
to
2014 NCM Bash: April 24-26, 2014
The kickoff of the NCM on site event season, the Bash, traditionally marks the rollout of the next model year
Corvette; the place where you can see them up close and in detail. Bash 2014 will provide enthusiasts the
chance to see the new 2015 Corvette Stingray up close as well as getting all the latest information about the all
new 7th Generation Corvette. Seminars will feature speakers discussing Chassis, Powertrain, Interior, and
Design and Electronics. As in past years there will be a large contingent of GM engineers and designer from
Warren Tech Center, Milford Proving Ground and the Bowling Green Assembly Plant ready to answer your
every question.
Returning activities include seminars by the C4/C5/C6 Specialist Paul Koerner, the Corvette race team members Doug Fehan, Corvette Driver Tommy Milner and Dan Binks, guided road tours, two celebrity choice car
shows, the Ladies’ Oasis, and the expanded Garage Party with women of the GM Corvette Team. The ladies
will cover all aspects of Corvettes including maintenance, engineering and even high performance driving.
Some retuning activities include Golf with Corvette Racing & GM Team.
Another event coming this summer is closer to home.
Cruise With The NCM
Set sail to Alaska aboard the Celebrity Cruise lines along with several of your Corvette and NCM friends.
Our 13th Annual Cruise will take place June 20 - 27 with a post cruise land excursion June 27 - 30.
The group rates we have are significantly less than booking through the cruise line. These special rates are
only guaranteed through February 20 so in order to get these significant savings, you must book by
then. There are also some other great incentives going on now that shouldn't be missed. To learn more about
the cruise and to book please visit the website at: www.ncmcruz.com. If you have questions, please contact
Sheri Clarke at 270-904-3190.
If you are interested in this event or National Corvette Museum events or items, please contact me or see me
at one of our meetings or events.
