Eric Church
October 30, 2014 | Thompson-Boling Arena
WIVK gave away tickets on-air
to see and meet Eric Church at
his show in Knoxville on
October 30th, with special
guest Dwight Yoakam!
“Love Me Like You Mean It”
At WIVK, we couldn’t be more proud of our hometown girl
Kelsea Ballerini for chasing her dreams! Her dad was the
WIVK Sales Manager several years ago, so Kelsea grew up
running the halls of the WIVK Radio Station.
On July 28, 2014, we promoted Kelsea’s new single by hosting her in the WIVK
Performance Studio. She went on-air with Colleen and then performed for a
group of people afterwards as part of her radio tour.
We were thrilled to support Kelsea’s hometown CD release party at a local Walmart on May 20,
2015. Hundreds of people came
out to buy her new CD, and Kelsea
stayed until every person had gotten theirs signed!

Several stars got their start at WIVK, like Taylor Swift,
Dolly Parton, Kenny Chesney, and more! In 2014 and
2015, we hosted several rising stars in the “WIVK Performance Studio” where artists play live on-air and then
perform a live private show for a few lucky listeners.
Homegrown
On Friday, August
29th, WIVK exclusively sponsored
Laurel Wright’s EP
release party at
the Capitol Theatre
in her hometown
of Maryville, TN.
We secured entertainment, and Colleen from mid-days
interacted with
the audience. We
gave away tickets
and VIP packages
on-air leading up
to the party to promote and encourage attendance.

WIVK brought Lonestar to the 2014“Froggin’ in
the Forge” Patriot Festival in Pigeon Forge,
Tennessee. This ultra-patriotic Fourth of July
festival draws tens of thousands of people to
Patriot Park. The Great Smoky Mountains
National Park was the backdrop for an evening of
music followed by a spectacular fireworks show
with synchronized music provided by WIVK!

Garth Brooks
MILLION DOLLAR PLAY LIST
WIVK has supported Garth Brooks for over 25 years, and we were
thrilled to welcome him back to Knoxville for FOUR SHOWS! Not
only did we give away over 60 pairs of tickets to his concerts; we also gave those winners the chance to win $1 million in
our “Garth Brooks Million Dollar Play List” event! We invited winners and their guests to Calhoun’s on the River for a night of great
food and fun with our WIVK personalities. We hung out on campus during each show (5/28-5/31), encouraging listeners to park
and ride the shuttles over to the Arena to avoid traffic jams.
During the 2014 UT Football season, WIVK teamed up with the Tin
Roof on campus for tailgating before and after every home game. WIVK
secured entertainment for each game, including names like Kristian
Bush, Olivia Lane, Dylan Scott, and more! We also invited clients such as
Sugarland Distilling and Mrs. Grissom’s to join us for the party. Then we
encouraged listeners to stop by and eat, get some free swag, cheer on
the Vols, and enjoy the entertainment before and after the games.
Each year, WIVK partners with the beloved Grand
Ole Opry to present “WIVK Night at the Opry.” The
Opry offered deeply discounted ticket prices to our
listeners, along with the opportunity to puchase
a pre-show backstage tour and meet and greet
with WIVK DJs. WIVK’s “Cowboy Pal Gunner”
even hosted a segment of the Opry on February
14, 2015. Ten listeners won a VIP Valentine’s Day
package, which included tickets, plus two seats on
a charter bus hosted by the WIVK staff and DJs.
Country Tonite Theatre
WIVK partners with Country Tonite Theatre to present the Celebrity
Concert series, which celebrates and honors country music’s legends. In
2014 and 2015, WIVK exclusively welcomed legends like Ronnie Milsap,

Dependable Coverage
When it Counts
News Coverage and Awards
WIVK has an unprecedented commitment to news and information. WIVK’s
five-member news team prepares ten newscasts each weekday. Their work has been
consistently acknowledged for excellence. They have received “Best Radio News Operation in
the State” by the TN Associated Press twice and “Best Radio Newscaster in the State” by the
TN AP three times. WIVK’s News Team is best known for their coverage of breaking news and
severe weather situations.
Severe Weather Reports
During bad winter weather, The WIVK air staff provides reports four times an hour and sends
out text alerts, giving listeners up-to-the-minute school and business closings. More than
300 local schools and businesses are signed up to participate in the Snow Frog service. In
the spring and summer, these reports focus on severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings,
often preempting music programming to provide ongoing coverage. When snow covered the
southeast, the community turned to WIVK for updates. WIVK personalities camped out at the
studios to provide live updates. We also utilized social media more than ever to help listeners
stay safe and informed about impending snow and road conditions.
Doppler Weather
As the designated emergency broadcast station for the Knoxville area, WIVK monitors and
relays severe weather and emergency information. The station has Doppler radar in studio and
is linked with the national weather service for instant warnings and limited-access forecast
chats. WIVK partners with a local television station, WVLT-TV, for weather reports. Their
meteorologists provide weather reports that air 50 times per day as well as live continuing
coverage during severe events.
Traffic Information
WIVK’s beloved traffic reporter, Ed Rupp, gives
live traffic reports four times an hour each
weekday morning and afternoon. WIVK airs
special reports during University of Tennessee
football games and other big city events. The
on air team also breaks into programming
when there is a major traffic concern. From
fatal crashes that close back roads to rockslides
prompting interstate detours, WIVK listeners
usually get the information first.

“Mission: Mammography”
In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness
Month, WIVK teamed up with Knoxville Comprehensive Breast Center (KCBC) to host the 10th Annual “Mission: Mammography” event to provide free
mammograms to 150 uninsured women. WIVK gave
the first 107 women in line a free t-shirt, too.
WIVK promoted the event through website presence, liners on-air, interviews,
and eblasts. The Morning Show broadcast live at Knoxville Comprehensive
Breast Center, and the free mammograms were funded by the non-profit Kim
Rowden Breast Cancer Memorial Fund.
Each year WIVK sponsors the Great
Knoxville Rubber Duck Race to benefit the
Boys and Girls Clubs of the Tennessee
Valley. Through on-air announcements,
PSAs, website exposure, social media
posts, and remotes, WIVK encourages listeners to “adopt” rubber ducks, which
raised over $100,000 for the nonprofit!
Wivick the Frog and Jimmy from the Morning Show emceed the “duck drop” that
took place at World’s Fair Park. Duck adoptees won prizes if their duck was one of
the first to cross the finish line.
Coats for the Cold
Coats for the Cold has been a Knoxville tradition for over 25
years. WIVK started the campaign when a news story broke
that a homeless man froze to death on the streets of Knoxville one cold winter’s night. Since then, Coats for the Cold
has struck a powerful chord each year within the volunteer
spirit of East Tennessee. WIVK encourages listeners to donate
new or gently used coats. A local dry cleaning business cleans
the coats, and Knox Area Rescue Ministries distributes them
to those in need. Over 11,000 coats were donated in 2014.

Teacher of the Month
WIVK teams up with Shoney’s Restaurants to encourage students to
nominate their favorite teachers. Students, with the help of their parents, submit stories on WIVK.com about teachers who have inspired
them, believed in them, and positively impacted their lives. One
teacher was chosen each month during the 2014-2015 school year.
The teachers and students received a surprise visit to their classroom
by Wivick the Frog, Gunner, Shoney Bear, and a character from the
Titanic Museum. Teachers received dinner for four and a Teacher of
the Month medallion. The student who nominated the teacher also
received dinner for four at Shoney’s and all students in the class received a coupon for a free Shoney’s kids meal.
St. Jude Radiothon
On March 10th, WIVK broadcast live from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
from the St. Jude Radiothon headquarters. Our personalities, including Andy & Alison, Colleen, and Gunner, teamed up to interview patients and patient families, talking to listeners who donated in honor of someone, and thanking sponsors. Local celebrities
including UT players and news anchors joined us throughout the
day to answer phones and raise money for a great cause.

WIVK listeners raised
Give thanks. Walk.
for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
WIVK is proud to be the exclusive radio sponsor of the St. Jude “Give thanks.
Walk.” fundraiser event, which is held annually at the Knoxville Zoo. Families
were encouraged to raise money by getting donations and then walking on
November 22, 2014 in an effort to find a cure for cancer and ensure that no
child’s family ever has to pay for treatment. WIVK employees are members
of the Knoxville St. Jude board, which secures walk-day entertainment, incentives, food, and more. WIVK promotes through on-air PSAs and liners, web
presence, social media, and the Morning Show broadcasts live from the event.
St. Jude Partner in Hope
Appreciation Concert
To thank our listeners who pledged on March 10th to
become Partners in Hope, meaning they will give $20
each month to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, we
held a private appreciation concert featuring the Swon
Brothers on April 7th. We auctioned a guitar signed by
over 30 country stars to raise money for the hospital.
