Our school has more secrets than you
can imagine.
In this number of the magazine we
will tell you something about it, but
from the technical side.
Have you ever thought that we have a
lift shaft, or stockroom under the
kitchen? Or, just like us, you had no
idea about that. And it’s not everything, there is much more:)
What about:
- 134 doors (in the whole building),
- about 32 fire extinguishers,
visited during his pilgrimages + 4 others which are situated on the second
floor, near the history classroom,
- 100 stairs (exactly),

GLOSSARY:
First week of April – everything began then. Some students of our
school started to have some problems with wearing the school uniforms.
At first there was just a handful of
people, but later this group became
bigger and bigger. Now, almost 2/3
of our school community is against
the idea of school uniforms. They all
signed a petition about that. But why
this group became as big as it is?
We heard the answer on a Student
Council meeting with the headmaster of our school. When Mrs. Latos
got the petition, she decided to take
a vote. That was the meeting for. But
before voting, students discussed
pros and cons of wearing the uniforms.
Here you have some examples of disadvantages (the most common
ones):

isn’t of a good quality and students
sweat wearing them,
- it’s the additional cost for the parents.
But not everybody was against. We
could also hear about some pluses
of wearing the uniforms:
- students can feel equal - they
don’t feel worse when someone has
got better clothes,
- they cover some parts of the body
(f.e. belly ) especially during the
summer,
- we stand out from other schools.
The result of students voting was
quite obvious – most of us were
against the uniform. The teachers
voted for them. So for now we have
1 vote for and 1 against. We have to
wait for the Parents’ Council decision till June. Everything in their
hands.

There are lots of methods to take spectacular
muscle mass. We have
gathered some of them
for you:
1. You can’t let your
body to get used to the
same everyday activities. Be creative.
2. You should play computer games. Your fingers will be stronger
then.
3. If you wanna try
some harder activities
for your fingers than
playing computer
games, you can peel
potatoes. It’s also good
for wrists.
4. You should train with
dumb-bell or barbell
most of all. It’s the
healthiest way and also
effective one (when you
accidentally drop it on
your food, you can
spontaneously exercise
the muscle of your midriff).
5. Write a lot. It’s also
good for your fingers,
wrists, biceps and triceps.
6. Do a lot of activities
which can be also useful, like some housework - carrying firewood
for example. You will
have more free time
then.
7. Be like a Spiderman try to stay on a ceiling. If
you’re able to stay there
for 5 seconds, you
won’t have to train anymore.
8. You shouldn’t train
your abdominal muscles. It’s very unhealthy. Instead of
that ...
9. Eat healthy. Right
diet is very important in
taking muscles.
10. Read books. Eye
muscles are also important.

have you trained to get
so great sinews?
W (Wojciech): About
half of a year.
S: How much do you
train for a week?
W: Six times a week for
2-3 hours. It depends
on the type of training.
S: Have you often got
soreness?
W: Only after long
break in trainings.
S: Have you got any
special diet?
W: Yes. It’s rich in proteins and carbohy-
drates.
S: What do you think
about steroids?
W: I think they’re not
dangerous if you use
them in appropriate
doses. It also depends
on kind of steroids. I
don’t think it’s something bad.
S: Hmmmm ...

At the beginning of April, in Ryki, Kasia Błaszczyk
and Monika Zdyb, after lots of hard matches, won
the gold medal in the regional championship in table tennis. A bit belated but honest congratulations
for the winners and we wish the girls continued success. Also for their coach, Mr. Krzysztof Kozłowski
(just in case, for those who don’t know - that’s not
the man in the picture). He is our Geography teacher too and we love him.

in it. All the participants
were trying to do their
best so there was a very
strong contention.
Students could choose
from many athletic disciplines. Some of them
achieved really great results.

People say that school life is easier
for teacher’s children. We decided to
find out if it’s true or maybe another
myth. We interviewed several students whose parents are teachers
and asked them two questions:
1.
What is good in being a students of the school your
mother / father works in?
2.
What is bad in such a situation.
Here are their answers.
Oliwia Różycka:
+: Beeing a teacher's child seems to
be really fine. On one hand, you can
quickly contact the parent and ask
her to sign a dokument you need (f.e.
an agreement for a trip).
-: On the other hand, you are constantly monitored, you can't hide any
bad marks. You can’t do many things
that are against the school law. Sometimes teachers require from you
more than from other students.
Adrian Kamiński:
+: My dad can always give / borrow
me some money. He helps me when I
need it, signs some important papers
and other ” things on fast” when I
forget to ask him for at home.
-: My parents can check all my marks
any time they want. And they know
about all my snags or offense. I hate
that.
Daniel Kozłowski:
+: I know about all the important
things which happen at school at once. My dad always helps me with the
exercises from Geography. Sometimes I know about something that
can help me in a test. I know more
about Geography than others.;) And
this is really cool!
-: The worst thing is that when I do
something wrong people say that to
my father immediately. That means I
have to be a „good kid.”
Kinga Michałek:
+: If I need something, anything, my
mom always gives it to me and she is
always close to me.
-: But she can see how I learn any time
she wants. It’s terrible. And she can
check my marks whenever she wants.
Grr…
Maks Goch:
+: My parent is always near me when I
need his hand. He helps me every time,
everywhere and every day.
-: No truancy at all, constant monitoring
and control. Sometimes I feel different
than the others. My father knows all my
marks. And he is up to date with me, he
knows all the recent information, both
good and bad:)
Natalia Droździel:
+: I can get advice and needed help at
school time. And if it’s necessary my
mom is near me.
-: Ohers students think I don’t have to
spend so much time on studying and I
don’t have to worry for good marks.
Nothing more wrong! Other thing is that
my mom knows everything. This is not
good! :)
Oliwia Berdys:
+: I can get up later because I go with
my mom to school by car. And it’s great.
My parent gives me money if I need some.
-: She knows everything; sees my
marks. My teachers can tell her everything what they want to and they complain if I did something wrong ;(
Michał Latos:
+: My mom sometimes gives me a lift
home and I don't have to wait for a bus.
I don't think there are any disadvantages.
Patryk Kaźmierak:
I don’t see neither good nor bad sides
of the situation that my mom works in
my school.

In our school, there are more and
more students who try to imitate others in many things. This is
like a scourge. Let’s have a look for
a few examples:
1. Doesn’t the school in Stróża look
like a military school? Leggings and
T-shirts with camouflage pattern
have taken control of the school
female fashion.
2. Changing the hairstyle? Why not
parting in the middle of the head one for all, all for one!
3. Are places below the cross and next
to the radiator the most comfortable at
school? They have become occupied
by more and more students during the
breaks. Won’t those, who were the first
there, be angry? It’s not so easy to
adapt a new teritory.
4. Lengthened straps in backpacks? A
thing which is worth to ape, for sure :)

more creative!!!

LIFE AROUND
8th May this year we (‘4 nerds’): Kinga M., Oliwia B., Kamil K. and Alinka
P. with our tutor (5th nerd), Mrs. Berdys, went to Fajsławice. We were
invited to the HUGE and beautiful
school (we were lost on the way there… by the way:))
There we’ve met a lot of girls who
liked Kamil (hmm mabye more than
like - it was a bit strange) and a crazy
English man, Mr. Simon Wren (he
even looked very very British),
very very old:) And completely bafflegab without translation into English:)
During acting we pretended monkeys (the way they behave) and tried
to act everyday converstation in comedy, horror, musical and romance
style. Great fun, believe us.

who works for the organization called NaukaBezGranic.
On the workshops there were four
subjects: acting, dancing (Irish and
Scotish dances), teenage slang and
learning old, old (VEEERY OLD) English accent and language. To be clear - I’m talking about Cockney, which
in fact, is not an old-fashioned English. It’s a London slang… but still -
Dances was very difficult (especially
if your partner was tall like a giraffe).
However, we managed. Sort of :)
The part about teenage slang and
accent was a bit boring… but not for
us.
Workshops lasted about 5 hours.
Then we went back home. Tired but
more educated, with some new
experience (and furious at Kamil :))

On 17th May we had a great opportunity to
meet Ms. Magdalena Dąbska. She was a
trainee in the European Parliament (EP).
She led the lessons with class 2c. We were
the only gimnazjum in our county who were so lucky:) Let’s find out something about her experiences.
(S)POTLIGHT: How long did you work in the
EP? How much did you earn?
(M)AGDALENA: Exactly one month. During
this time I earned 800 €.
S: How many hours in a week did you
spend in the office?
M: It depended on kind of work, but overall
I couldn’t work more than 40 hours.
S: This is quite a lot, isn’t it?
M: No, not for me.
S: How many countries did you visit?
Which nationality do you consider as the
nicest one?
M: I was in Belgium, France, Hungary,
Slovakia, Germany, Italy and Canada. The
nicest nationality – definitely Hungarians.
You know the Polish saying – Pole, Hungarian: two good friends …
S: What languages do you speak?
M: English of course, and a little of German and French.
S: How long did you study them?
M: I was studying English since I was in
the primary school but German and
French I learned in college.
S: Is it difficult?
M: No it’s not.
S: How do you find the level of knowledge of gimnazjum students? We know
that you usually lead the classes about
the EU for the high school students.
M: I’m pleasantly surprised with the
level of students’ knowledge here! High
school students ask fewer questions
than you. And your knowledge is higher
than this of high school students’.
S: Thank you for your kind words and

Ania Toporowska, a Canadian student, was
born and lives in Canada, but she’s Polish
because her parents are Polish. She was
visiting her family in Poland and she was
so nice that she agreed to meet us and tell
us something about the country she comes
from.
Anna spend an hour with us. She showed
us the presentation about Canada. There
were a lot of pictures. Some of them
showed places which looked very familiar,
they were similar to those, in Poland, for
example the lakes. After the presentation
Ania told us about her family, it appeared
that they live in many different countries.
She said she likes Polish boys (in her opinion they are handsome - congratulations
guys ^^ ). Ania also thinks that Polish
people are very nice, and always say
‘’hello’’ even if they don’t know you.
She admitted she likes Polish traditions, because in Poland we have lots
of them. And we learnt she loves red
borsch with uszka but hates flaki :)
Of course, during the whole meeting,
we talked to her in English. Although
Ania gave us evasive answers every
time we asked about the purpose of
her visit in Poland, we didn’t even suspect she has family here (she’s a niece
of Mrs. Pietal)!!! At the end of the meeting, our ”lovely” teacher informed us
that Ania can perfectly speak Polish. Of
course. What a cruelty!!!
