Sacrament Of The Sick:
Sick Calls or other Emergency Calls should be made to the
rectory at any time. Arrangements can also be made for regular
visitations at home or hospital for Holy Communion and/or
Confession. We urge you to keep us aware of parishioners who
are ill in the hospital or at home.
Marriages:
Please make arrangements at least one year in advance.
Couples are urged to solemnize their vows at a Nuptial Mass.
Baptisms:
The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated each month on the First
Sunday (in English) and on the Third Sunday (in Polish). A
required Baptismal Program for Parents is conducted at 1:00 pm
on the second Sunday of the month in Polish and on the last
Sunday in English.

So, What is happening with “New Energies?”
As everyone in Bayonne is well aware, there is a need to share our resources and consolidate the
services provided by the Catholic Churches in the City of Bayonne. Presently, there are seven parishes
functioning. Unfortunately, on any given weekend, only 5,600 people worship at these parishes. Needless
to say, there are insufficient funds generated to support all of these operations in the present form. All of
the parishes experience a deficit each year. Some parishes are in direct debt to the Archdiocese.
The Catholic community in Bayonne must seek ways to support itself.
For the past few years, “New Energies” Teams, made up of representatives from the seven
parishes, have been exploring new models of church alignments in our city. In February, several
proposals were submitted to the Archbishop. We are waiting to hear from him as to his decision.
Although nobody likes waiting, we must be patient. “Rome was not built in a day!” Bayonne cannot be
transformed overnight.
During the Easter season we hear the story of the growth of the Church in the A cts of the
Apostles. The believers were guided by the Holy Spirit and led by the authority of Christ’s chosen
leaders, the Apostles. That same Holy Spirit is at work today in our city. The leadership of the Apostles
is still being exercised by our Archbishop. We need to see God’s work with the eyes of Faith. We need
to trust Christ as He leads us.
Please pray for the Archbishop. Please pray for all members of the Catholic Community in
Bayonne. Please pray for your priests. May the peace and joy of the Risen Lord fill us all!

All Saints Catholic Academy Gala
The season of First Communions is here,
and invitations pour in as the new communicants,
mostly seven years old, gather extended families for
their first reception of the Eucharist.
Eastern Catholics and Orthodox children
follow a different plan, since they are given a taste
of the consecrated wine at their baptism as infants.
We Western Christians delay until “the age of reason,” but many years ago, Communion was not for
children at all. Twelve to fourteen was the typical
time for Roman Catholics to receive for the first
time, and in those days this was a transition into the
adult world of work and marriage.
The custom did not begin to shift to childhood until reforms set in place by Pope St. Pius X
began to take hold in the 1920s.
If you are going to a First Communion, you
can give thanks that the table of the Lord is today
open so much more lavishly than before.

Wojciecha,
głównego patrona Polski.
Wojciech urodził się w
Libicach, które wówczas rywalizowały z Pragą w budowie
scentralizowanego
państwa
czeskiego. Imię Adalbert (pod
którym jest znany w krajach
zachodnich) przybrał podczas
bierzmowania na cześć swego
mentora, arcybiskupa Magdeburga - Adalberta pod którego opiekę został oddany w
972 r. W 981 r. przyjął święcenia kapłańskie. Po śmierci
praskiego biskupa Dytmara od 3 kwietnia 983 stał na
czele diecezji praskiej mimo nieosiągnięcia wieku episkopalnego (30 lat). Wobec wywołanych swą bezkompromisowością konfliktów z wiernymi ok. 989 wyjechał
do Rzymu, gdzie zrzekł się urzędu biskupa Pragi. W 992,
po śmierci zarządzającego diecezją praską biskupa miśnieńskiego Folkolda, ponownie skierowany do Pragi
przez arcybiskupa Moguncji Willigisa. Rozpoczął także
działania misyjne na podbitej przez Węgry Słowacji, co
doprowadziło do konfliktów z wciąż pogańskim dworem
Arpadów.
Kiedy zaś nadal posługa biskupia był niemożliwa
do wykonania, biskup udał się do Polski z postanowieniem oddania się pracy misyjnej wśród pogan. Było to
późną jesienią 996 roku.
Wisłą udał się Wojciech do Gdańska, gdzie przez
kilka dni głosił Ewangelię tamtejszym Pomorzanom.
Stąd udał się w dalszą drogę. Aby nie nadawać swojej
misji charakteru wyprawy wojennej, Wojciech oddalił
żołnierzy. Niedługo potem dziki tłum otoczył misjonarzy
i zaczął im złorzeczyć. Jeden z pogan uderzył biskupa
wiosłem w plecy, aż mu brewiarz wypadł z rąk. Kiedy
Wojciech zorientował się, że Prusy nie chcą nawrócenia,
postanowił zakończyć misję powrotem do Polski. Prusowie poszli za nim. Miejsca męczeńskiej śmierci nie
udało się uczonym dotąd zidentyfikować. Mogło to być
w okolicy Elbląga lub Tękit (Tenkitten).
23 kwietnia 997 roku w piątek o świcie zbrojny
tłum Prusów otoczył trzech misjonarzy: św. Wojciecha,
bł. Radzima i subdiakona Benedykta Boguszę. Ledwie
skończyła się odprawiana przez biskupa Wojciecha Msza
św., rzucono się na nich i związano ich. Zaczęto bić
Wojciecha, ubranego jeszcze w szaty liturgiczne, i
zawleczono go na pobliski pagórek. Tam pogański
kapłan zadał mu pierwszy śmiertelny cios. Potem 6
włóczni przebiło mu ciało. Odcięto mu głowę i wbito ją
na żerdź. Przy martwym ciele pozostawiono straż. W
chwili zgonu Wojciech miał 41 lat.
Jego kult szybko ogarnął Węgry, Czechy oraz
kolejne kraje Europy.
Każda społeczność ma określone tradycją
wzorce zachowania, swoje obyczaje. Niektóre
są trwałe, niektóre przemijają.
Gesty, ubiór – to znaki, które dajemy, wyraz naszego stosunku siebie i do innych.
Kościół, w którym wierni zbierają się
na modlitwę do Boga, jest miejscem szczególnym.
Jeśli jesteś katolikiem - to mieszkanie Boga
samego w Najświętszym Sakr amencie. Jeśli znajdujesz się w świątyni przypadkiem - uszanuj
wiarę innych. To kwestia osobistej kultury.
Kościół, czyli świątynia, budynek sakralny przeznaczony do kultu, specjalnie poświęcony.
W każdym kościele jest Najświętszy Sakrament Chrystus pod postacią chleba, przechowywany
w Tabernakulum. Dlatego jest to dla katolików
miejsce święte.
Nie idziesz na plażę w garniturze, ani do
pracy w kostiumie kąpielowym. Do kościoła
wchodź ubrany godnie. Zbyt wyeksponowana
golizna, niechlujny wygląd świadczą o braku
szacunku dla siebie, Boga i innych ludzi.
Wchodzisz do kościoła? Szorty, stroje
plażowe, odkryte ramiona i plecy, stroje sportowe
jak na boisko, spodnie, bluzki – tak obcisłe, że
właściwie można by było się bez nich obyć - odpadają z góry. Czy wszedłby ktoś tak ubrany
do teatru, dobrej restauracji czy na egzamin?

To spotkanie z Bogiem, nie pokaz mody.
Uważajmy też z perfumami. Niektór zy używają perfum tak mocnych, że czuć je w całym
kościele.
