So, WHO is the new guy??
Last Sunday we printed a brief bio of our new parochial vicar (formerly referred to assistant) Fr. Joseph Bożek. Here’s a few details from his bio that might be of interest to you:
Fr. Joseph hails from Pilzno, a city located in southeastern Poland not far from Tarnów. His parents
are John (deceased) and Mary, and has three sisters: Ann, Barbara and Agnes, all with their own families. All three of his sisters are school teachers.
Since his childhood Fr. Joseph has enjoyed participating in all sorts of sports including soccer,
swimming and skiing, all which he would like to continue to enjoy while in Cleveland!
As a young man he became an altarboy at the Carmelite church, an act which fostered his vocation to become a priest serving God and His people.
He attended the seminary in Rzeszow and was ultimately ordained by Bishop Casimir Gorny on May 13, 1999.
In Poland he began his priestly work in Chełmno, Głogowa, Gorlica and Nienadowiec until he was sent here to
work at the Shrine Church of St. Stanislaus in Cleveland!
He is grateful to Fr. Eric for having invited him and he looks forward to working with the parishioners. His hope is
to strengthen the faith of the youth as well as all those who come to our church. Finally, he asks for us to pray for him
that he might be successful in his mission of leading others to Christ as he has been called to do.

It seems like only yesterday that we were wondering how everything would work out with the departure of the
Franciscans. Well, now that the dust has settled, we can see that God has not left us orphans. Sure, the new priests all
have their own styles, their own quirks, their pluses and minuses...but then can you remember them being ANY different before? We went through so many different friars over the years—some loved, others not so loved; some more
spiritual than others, others more gregarious than most; some too worldly for some peoples’ taste, others too private
and quiet for others’ taste. The bottom line: They are all people as different from one another as each parishioner is,
all making up a changing, fluid mosaic which tries to be the body of Christ.
We all know people who change parishes as some people change their clothing. They walk in, hear a few sermons, decide they don’t want to hear the Word of God through a certain prism and move on to try to find someone
who will say things in a way that will make them more at ease. It is the same from the bottom to the top. If we had a
choice of popes there would be people shifting from one to another in the same way. We too frequently want the easier road rather than the one which challenges our comfort level. We think our changing priests or churches or popes
will SOMEDAY allow us to find the ONE! It ain’t gonna happen brothers and sisters (to use a favorite phrase of our
dear Fr. Paschal). God speaks many languages and has many things for us to take to heart. Don’t run away from a
challenge. Don’t turn down the volume when a deserved scolding might be appropriate. We all want to be so independent and correct all the time….but that’s impossible. At times, the truth is hard to swallow...but never as difficult to
swallow as our pride. None of us is perfect.

Przez Maryję do Jezusa.
Każdego roku podczas nabożeństw majowych w polskich kościołach i kapliczkach
przydrożnych rozbrzmiewa Litania Loretańska do Najświętszej Maryi Panny.
Słowo litania pochodzi z języka greckiego, w którym „litania” oznaczało pierwotnie
„błaganie”. Współcześnie litanie postrzegane są właśnie jako modlitwy błagalne – mające na
celu wyproszenie orędownictwa, pomocy i łask.
Początków litanii należy doszukiwać się już w Nowym Testamencie. Ludzie zwracający się z
prośbami do Jezusa często przybierali błagalny ton, np.: „Panie, ulituj się nade mną”. Takie
wezwania litanijne bardzo szybko trafiły do ludzkiej świadomości, a później zostały włączone
przez Kościół do kanonu modlitewnego. Litanie ku czci Matki Najświętszej znane są już od
średniowiecza. Ich autorzy wzorowali się na pochodzącej z końca VI w. Litanii do Wszystkich
Świętych.
Zasada kompozycji litanii maryjnych jest prosta - tworzono je dodając do siebie kolejne tytuły-wezwania
odnoszące się do Matki Bożej. Mimo że w historii powstało wiele litanii maryjnych, to powszechnie i na stałe przyjęła
się ta, którą odmawiano we włoskim sanktuarium maryjnym w Loreto (stąd nazwa: Litania Loretańska), zatwierdzona
oficjalnie przez papieża Sykstusa V w 1587 r.
Litania Loretańska składa się z tytułów-wezwań skierowanych do Matki Najświętszej. Wszystkie one ukazują
Maryję obecną w historii zbawienia. Tytuły te wywodzą się głównie ze Starego Testamentu. Początkowo wezwań było
więcej niż w dzisiejszej wersji Litanii Loretańskiej, m.in.: Mistrzyni pokory, Matko Miłosierdzia czy Bramo odkupienia.
Później pojawiały się inne wezwania: Królowo Różańca Świętego (1675), Królowo bez zmazy pierworodnej poczęta
(1846), Matko Dobrej Rady (1903), Królowo pokoju (1917), Królowo Wniebowzięta (1950), Matko Kościoła (1980),
Królowo Rodziny (1995)Obecnie, po dołączeniu wezwania „Królowo rodzin”, tytułów jest w sumie 51, a w polskiej
wersji, wraz z tytułem „Królowo Polski”, mamy 52 wezwania.
W Litanii Loretańskiej możemy wyróżnić trzy wątki. Pierwszy z nich, który rozpoczyna wezwanie „Święta
Maryjo”, można nazwać dogmatycznym. Skupia się on bowiem wokół dwóch podstawowych prawd-dogmatów
maryjnych: macierzyństwa i dziewictwa. W tej części litanii Maryja Matka i Dziewica jawi się przede wszystkim jako
wybrana przez Stwórcę do realizacji zbawczych planów.
Drugi wątek Litanii Loretańskiej, który rozpoczyna wezwanie „Zwierciadło sprawiedliwości” a kończy –
„Wspomożenie wiernych” pokazuje piękno i doskonałość Matki Jezusa. Występujące tu wezwania skupiają naszą
uwagę najpierw na cnotach Dziewicy z Nazaretu, by w końcu wskazać także na Nią, jako na szczególną pomoc dla ludu
chrześcijańskiego.
Trzeci, końcowy wątek tematyczny litanii, zaczynający się od tytułu „Królowa Aniołów”, można nazwać
ostatecznym. Przyzywamy teraz Matki Jezusa jako uwielbionej Królowej wszystkich zbawionych, a także tych, którzy
jeszcze się zmagają z ziemskimi słabościami.
Będąc Królową Aniołów i Wszystkich Świętych, Maryja jest także Królową naszych rodzin i Królową pokoju oraz
naszej ziemskiej Ojczyzny - Polski. Dzięki Litanii Loretańskiej możemy coraz lepiej kontemplować Maryję i uczyć się od
Niej, jak być dzieckiem Chrystusa.
Loretańska odprawiana jest przede wszystkim w maju, który uznawany jest za miesiąc maryjny, ale każdy
wierny prywatnie może odmawiać ją w dowolnym momencie. Warto zwrócić uwagę na zaakcentowanie niezwykle
ważnej roli Matki Boskiej w życiu Polaków, co zostało podkreślone przez zwrot „Królowo Polski”. Został on włączony do
tekstu litanii już w 1923 r. (po zatwierdzeniu święta NMP Królowej Polski) i brzmiał wówczas: „Królowo Polskiej
Korony”. Dopiero po II wojnie światowej uległ on zmianie i do dzisiaj mówi się: „Królowo Polski”.
Pielęgnujmy ten piękny zwyczaj oddawania czci Maryi i uwielbiana Boga. Dlatego w każdą niedzielę maja przed
polska mszą świętą będziemy się modlić litanią loretańską. Zapraszam więc bardzo serdecznie abyśmy zgromadzili się
15 min wcześniej by wspólnie uwielbiać Boga przez Maryję i wypraszać pokój dla świata a dla siebie i naszych rodzin
błogosławieństwo Boże oraz potrzebne łaski do życia wiecznego a także doczesnego.

WYBORY DO RADY PARAFIALNEJ
Sanktuarium św. Stanisława ma przywilej posiadania tego
roku siedmiu znakomitych kandydatów do Rady
Parafialnej: Joseph Calamante, Marilyn Mosinski,
Candace Pritchard, Katherine Lewicki, Dena Richards,
Lynn Vaccariello i Ronal Zeszut. Do biuletynu będzie
załączony w następnym tygodniu dodatek zawierający
zdjęcia i biografie kandydatów. Głosować będziemy na
wszystkich Mszach św. w dniach 11-12 maja wybierając
dwóch spośród kandydatów na trzyletnią kadencję, i
jednego na dwuletnią. Pozostałe trzy miejsca w Radzie
zostaną uzupełnione przez nominację. Zarejestrowani
parafianie w wieku przynajmniej 14 lat mają prawo
głosowania. W razie nieobecności można poprosić o
kartkę do głosowania i wysłać głos w odpowiednim
czasie, czyli przed 12 maja.
DOROCZNE NABOŻEŃSTWO MAJOWE
Podtrzymując naszą długoletnią tradycję
uczczenia Maryi przez Jej ukoronowanie
w pierwszą niedzielę maja serdecznie
zapraszamy na nabożeństwo w najbliższą
niedzielę, 5. maja o godz. 4:00 po
południu. Podobnie jak w poprzednie
lata, tak i teraz za drobną opłatą będzie
można nabyć kwiaty, które następnie
będzie można złożyć przed obrazem
Maryi. W czasie nabożeństwa odmówimy różaniec po
polsku i po angielsku, będzie błogosławieństwo
Najświętszym Sakramentem, a deszcz płatków różanych
będzie uwieńczeniem nabożeństwa. Prosimy o zaproszenie
członków rodziny i przyjaciół do wspólnego uczczenia
Matki Pana.
PARISH COUNCIL ELECTIONS
The Shrine Church of St. Stanislaus is blessed to have
seven excellent candidates for Parish Pastoral Council
this year: Joseph Calamante, Marilyn Mosinski, Candace
Pritchard, Katherine Lewicki, Dena Richards, Lynn Vaccariello and Ronal Zeszut. An insert will be included in
next week’s bulletin with the candidates’ pictures and
biographies. We will vote at all Masses the weekend of
May 11-12, and elect two of these to three year terms
and one for a two year term. Three additional one year
positions on Council will be filled by appointment. Registered parishioners at least 14 years of age are eligible to
vote. You may request an absentee ballot by calling the
parish office,th but all ballots must be received no later
than May 12
ANNUAL MAY CROWNING
In keeping with our longstanding tradition of honoring
Mary on the first Sunday of her month you are all invited
to attend her ‘coronation’ on Sunday, May 5th @ 4 PM.
As usual, flowers will be available for a donation to be
placed surrounding the image of Mary. The service will
again be bi-lingual with a rosary recited as well as benediction of the Blessed Sacrament as well as the shower of
rose petals. Please invite family and friends to this special
tribute in honor of the Mother of God.
TREASURES OR BARGAINS? BOTH!
Which is better-a treasure or a bargain? The answer is both! Either
way, YOU WILL BE A BIG WINNER by
bidding on some of the great treasures, and often bargains, in the great
silent auction at the Four Eagles Banquet on May 10.
In addition to the sumptuous all-youcan-eat dinner, open bar, and great camaraderie, the
auction features something for everybody. Most silent
auctions feature exotic, often pricey items. Ours is better because it has a wide range of items from very inexpensive to, well yes, "pricey" but often below market
value. And wow! What fun it is. All the bidding and
last minute drama to see who finally takes home their
favorite treasure. So many happy faces at the end. And
credit cards are accepted for payment.
We are still accepting donated items for the auction. Call
the office for details and be sure to provide a fair market
price. And, if you have already donated an auction item,
we thank you. However, please call the office to provide
a fair market price if you didn't previously.
Don't forget to make reservations for the banquet. Cost
is $75/person or $550/table of eight. The RSVP deadline
has been extended to April 30. But please don't wait-seating is limited.
GARDEN CLUB NEWS
Thanks goes out to five members of the Garden Club
who spent a chilly Saturday spreading a truckload of
mulch around the grounds making our parish gardens
look so spectacular! Good job, guys!!!!!
