HANAN
KID
proposal
Hanan Arabatlian and Kid Carson were introduced
by a mutual friend in the spring of 2010. Hanan
worked as an interior designer at the time when
Kid—host of the popular Kid Carson Show on
Vancouver’s SONiC 104.9 FM—hired her to
decorate his home. The two started spending
time together, reviewing fabrics and materials,
and their working relationship developed into a
romance. “There was no awkward first date, it was
a very natural process,” says Hanan. Almost two
years later, Kid surprised Hanan with a proposal in
Mexico. The couple were enjoying a relaxing day
on the appropriately-named Lover’s Beach in Cabo
San Lucas when Kid popped the question. “I had
no idea the proposal was coming. I couldn’t believe
he snuck the ring all the way to Cabo without me
knowing,” shares Hanan.
Hanan’s diamond engagement ring along with the
couple’s wedding bands were designed by Tacori
and purchased through Vancouver’s Harling’s
Jewellers.
The couple were married on July 26, 2014 at a
private estate in West Vancouver. Aly Armstrong
of Wild Orchid Event Management was
commissioned to provide full-service planning
and design assistance for the wedding. Aly worked
closely with the couple to bring their “glamorous
with a hint of rustic chic” dream celebration to life.

style
notes
Hanan wore a mermaid-style gown designed by Hayley Paige from Blush
Bridal & Special Occasions. Her accessories for the day, including a Cathedrallength veil and dazzling jewellery designed by Elsa Corsi, were purchased
from Jeweliette. Erin Moore from Is. Salon styled the bride’s hair and Kaitlin
Hargreaves was her makeup artist. Kid wore an Ermenegildo Zegna tuxedo
from Harry Rosen.
beautiful
ceremony
The couple’s intimate ceremony took place on the lawns of a private estate
overlooking the ocean in West Vancouver. Event Designer Colin Upright of
Upright Decor transformed the outdoor location into a romantic scene with
floral designs by Suzane Lee of Granville Island Florist.
Hanan and Kid’s children played important roles in the wedding. “Our daughter
Paris was the flower girl and Kid held our 8-month-old son Axl while I walked
down the aisle,” shares Hanan. “I was really nervous, but getting to the start of
the aisle and seeing all of the guests and my soon-to-be husband holding our
son took my breath away.”
The couple recited their vows under a beautiful chuppah that was draped in
white fabric and decorated with mounds of pink, white, and soft green blooms.
A harpist from Musical Occasions played throughout the ceremony.

casual
elegance
The garden-inspired reception took
place in an outdoor tent provided by
Apex Tents. Wrought iron chandeliers
were hung in the space and beautifully
decorated with hanging crystals and balls
of baby’s breath.
Tables were adorned with candle lanterns and floral centrepieces that prominently featured pink roses, white hydrangeas, and clusters of baby’s
breath. Wild Orchid Event Management created the day-of stationery, including the table numbers that were displayed in elegant silver frames.
The couple’s long head table featured a breathtaking floral runner made with pink, white, and soft green flowers that overflowed to the ground.
“It was lush and glamorous,” recalls Hanan. The tablescape also included glass beaded charger plates and floating candles in crystal holders.

Jay Swing of the Donnelly Group had everyone on
the dance floor.
Pink Buffalo Films captured the entire day on

produce a wedding keepsake video. The Collective
You was also on hand to take black and white
portraits of each guest.
The newlyweds followed their wedding with
a “staycation-style” mini-moon at Vancouver’s
Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel.
