She is a sophomore, is our chapters Reporter, and also plays soccer for our school’s soccer team. Barringer loves to raise animals and currently has a goat named Jack which she will be showing at the upcoming Galveston County Fair. Barringer is a very dedicated person in everything she is in. She hopes to raise a diary heifer for next year. In the future she plans on going to Texas A&M and becoming a large animal veterinarian. By Brenna Waegner Kimberly Lott is a senior and our member of the month this month. She’s a part of the NASA Longhorn program and has raised pigs for the CCISD show. She says FFA has taught her responsibility and commitment as well as it has given her opportunities to make friends from all over Texas. She also says it has brought her some wonderful friendships within the Clear Springs chapter. Kim wants to get a degree to be a radiologist and wants to go to Baylor once she’s finished with her basics. What happened last month…. By Natalie Weisiger We had a crazy but fun month, with everything going on at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. I’d like to congratulate McKenna for catching a calf on opening night. There was Floral and Horse judging contests that our teams did well at. I’d like to congratulate our Cattle Show Teams! Jonathan, Ashley G, Jackie, and Lacy did great at Houston by winning 4th place herdsman. Ashley S. placed 2nd with her heifer at the scramble and junior show. Hannah and Emilie placed 3rd in the Scramble Show with their beef heifers, while Michael won Supreme Dairy Scramble Heifer. Ashley G.The Longhorn Project showed at Houston as well, with Jonah winning Overall Reserve Champion with his heifer and placing 2nd in showmanship. Way to go Jonah!! Congratulations also to Kim for placing 2nd with her steer and 5th with her heifer, Kristen for placing 4th with her heifer, and Brenna for 2nd in class and 3rd in showmanship. Also, there was a Livestock Judging contest that our team went to and did really well. Cheyenne placed top 10 percent and got awarded a calf scramble certificate. Great Job Cheyenne! Don’t forget about all that money we raised at Program Sales, thank you all to helped with that. I hope everyone had a great Spring Break, I know everyone was looking forward to it. Don’t forget about Trash Pickup on the 31st. It’s the second to last one so be there! The school years almost over guys, can you believe it? I hope y’all had a great month.
