Kempe 2014 Annual Report
Clinical Care | Advocacy | Research | Education THE KEMPE FOUNDATION ANNUAL REPORT July 1, 2013 – June 30, 2014 KEMPE CARES FOR CHILDREN Together, we are improving the lives of children and families in Colorado and across the world through clinical care, advocacy, research and education. A LETTER FROM JOHN FAUGHT AND DR. DES RUNYAN The Kempe Foundation and The Kempe Center are working hand-in-hand in partnering with policy makers, human service agencies, child advocacy groups and nonprofits locally and around the nation and globe to prevent child abuse and neglect and to treat victims of abuse and neglect. We bring together leading research and treatment professionals, policy makers and community members to ensure every child has an opportunity to develop and grow in a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment. In addition to continuing the important work under our four CARE pillars – clinical care, advocacy, research and education – we are a part of a game-changing, paradigm shift in the way we think about, talk about and treat child abuse and neglect as a public health crisis. Over the past year, Kempe has taken incredible strides in expanding the scope of Kempe’s work and broadening the ways in which we can make a difference in the lives of children and families. This work includes creating and launching the Colorado Child Welfare Training System and rolling out SafeCare Colorado in partnership with the State of Colorado, completing the Raising Colorado discipline survey, traveling nationally and abroad to share our expertise with stakeholders and professionals, hosting several events to advocate and raise money for our mission, and much more. We are honored to carry on the work of our founder, Dr. C. Henry Kempe. Every dollar we raise can have a lasting impact on children and families. Lastly, we want to thank our supporters. Your dedication to the protection and care of children is vital to our efforts to make a significant difference in the quality of their lives and to invest in their futures. Sincerely, John Faught, JD President & CEO The Kempe Foundation Desmond K.
