Important Health Reminder
We currently have numerous cases of head
lice at Waynflete. Schools throughout the
greater Portland region are experiencing similar
outbreaks. The CDC recommends that schools
ask parents to check their child’s hair if you see
them scratching their heads or suspect they
have head lice. We ask everyone to check
their child’s head—whether you think they
have lice or not— so that we can prevent more
cases on campus.
For more information about how to detect and treat head lice, please check
the CDC website. Questions? Please call Waynflete’s Health Coordinator, Blanche
Belliveau, at 774-5721 ext. 1216.

Lower School Parent Coffee on November 6
We invite all Lower School parents to join Ben Thrash and Sandy Lovell, the
Outreach and TLC Coordinator from the Center for Grieving Children, as we explore
supporting children through loss and grief. Navigating loss and grief as a person
and as a parent is inevitable. We will focus on how to talk about death, suicide, and
depression with children at different developmental levels. Parents will hear
professional guidance and learn from school experiences as we navigate these
issues. Please join us on Friday, November 6 from 8:15–9:30 a.m. in the Drama
Room (the last room on the right on the ground floor of the Arts Center).
Middle School Transition Night Information
Thank you to all fifth-grade parents who attended Discover Middle School on
Wednesday, November 4. Please contact Ben Thrash or Middle School
Director Divya Muralidhara with any follow-up questions about the transition process
for our current fifth graders. More opportunities to learn about this transition are
planned throughout the school year.
Reminder for 5th Grade Students and Families
Waynflete's Admission Office will host an afternoon Open House for parents of
prospective Lower School students this Sunday, November 8 from 2:00–4:00 p.m.
All fifth graders planning to participate as tour guides must submit signed
permission slips (hard copy or via email) to their advisor. Students should plan to
arrive at the Arts Center by 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Family Pachanga on November 18
Pachanga is a Spanish word meaning “party” or
“joyful gathering” in Spanish. Each week, the
entire Lower School gathers for our Pachanga to
share songs, learn about what’s happening in
different classrooms, and enjoy our time together
as a Lower School community. Twice a year, we
celebrate Family Pachanga and invite parents and
siblings to join students in the Waynflete Gym for this lively sing-a-long. Our first
Family Pachanga of the school year is on Wednesday, November 18 from 11:30
a.m. –12:00 p.m. We hope that you can make it!
Learn Basketball Saturdays in November and December
The Little Flyers Basketball Clinic is in its 12th year and is being offered again to

basketball program. The clinic runs for five Saturdays beginning on November

butter and tuna), boxed pasta, and grains (rice,
quinoa, lentils). The sixth grade will deliver the food to Wayside Soup Kitchen

For more than 20 years, Waynflete’s Middle School Ski Program has given our
