The Junior Shag Dance Team of the Carolinas, “Shag Fever” is selling
Raffle Tickets in the effort to raise money to travel to the USA Grand
Nationals Dance Championship in Atlanta, GA in May, 2012. The
tickets are $5.00 each or 5 for $20.00. The drawing will be held at
Lynn’s in Charlotte on March 24, 2012 at our Junior Team Showcase
Event. This event will be open to the public and it will be a night of
Great Exhibitions, Dancing, and Fun! 1st place wins $500, 2nd place
wins $200, and 3rd place wins $100. You do not have to be present to
win! Our goals are to sell Raffle Tickets in order to raise the monies
needed for lodging, entry fees, wardrobe, and meal expenses, etc. for the juniors. By
purchasing a ticket you will minimize the financial burden for our team members and help
absorb the costs associated in traveling to the USA Grand Nationals Dance Championship
and different events throughout the year.

The Colonial Shag Club dances every Saturday night at Tribeca Night Club in the Omni Hotel,
Newport News, Va. We have 4 club DJs who alternate at spinning the tunes, 3 of whom are
ABSCDJs (Greg Howell, Jerry Hardy and David Miller) along with up-and-coming DJ Lloyd

The Hall of Fame Foundation (www.halloffamefoundation.org/about.htm) The HOFF is chartered in
the State of South Carolina as an IRS 501(3)(c) tax-exempt status. Since 1991 the HOFF has quietly
and compassionately helped countless folks in the shag community who are in financial need due to
loss of jobs, chronic medical bills, and natural disasters. A sample of the things the HOFF has helped
fellow shaggers with over the years include: wheel chairs, medical expenses, rehabilitation, funeral
costs, and many more too numerous to list. As a board member I can truly say they live up to their
motto of "Friends offering friends a helping hand in a time of need"
The Dewey Kennedy Scholarship (www.halloffamefoundation.org/scholarship.htm) The Dewey
Kennedy Scholarship was started in 1996 in memory of Dewey who loved the dance and junior
shaggers. The annual scholarship is open to those 22 years of age or younger who are currently
attending school or are planning on furthering their education by attending college or technical school.
The Beth Mitchell Scholarship (www.shagnationals.com/scholarship-info) In memory of 1998
National Non-Pro Champion, the National Shag Dance Championship Board of Directors established
the Beth Mitchell Memorial Scholarship to assist in the education of worthy college students who have
competed or whose parents have competed in the Nationals. The scholarship foundation is a
501(3)(c) tax-exempt SC organization. Click on the shagnationals weblink to see a list of past

The Ellen Taylor Foundation for Junior Shaggers (www.ellentaylorfoundation.org) Founded in
2007 by Shag Hall of Famer Ellen Taylor, this SC 501(3)(c) organization fills a much needed
charitable gap in our shag community. The goal of the foundation is to simply remove financial
barriers that might prevent those under 21 from participating in shag events. For example, Ellen's
foundation has quietly provided money for gas, lodging, transportation, and food for many kids to
attend Junior SOS, Shag Nationals, and other shag events. It helps juniors through three main
programs - assistance to attend events, free shoes, and by sponsoring junior shag workshops.
