Mt.2:2 _________________________ ___________________________ ___________________________ 2 Preparation of WYD 2005 Lord Jesus Christ, Saviour of the World, You became man, to give us a life in abundance. You promised to remain with us in Your Church until the end of time. Then Your Kingdom will come: a new heaven and earth full of love, justice and peace. This is our hope, our foundation. Thanks be to You. Lord, we pray: Bless the young people around the world. Reveal Yourself to those who are searching for You. Awake those who do not believe in You. Strengthen the faith of those who confess You. Let them continuously set out to You like the three Wise Men from the East. Make them architects of a new civilisation of love and witnesses of hope for the whole world. Through them be close to those who suffer from hunger, war and violence. Inspire by Your Holy Spirit those who are contributing the preparations of World Youth Day 2005. Make them serve Your kingdom with the power of their faith and their love and let them welcome their brothers and sisters from all over the world with open hearts. Lord, You gave us Mary as our mother. Let Her be our advocate for World Youth Day so that it becomes a celebration of faith. Bless Your Church with new strength these days, so that She can become a credible witness for You. We ask this through You, our Lord and God, living in the unity with the Father and the Holy Spirit, reigning forever and ever. Amen 3 We have come to worship Him…(Mt. 2:2) As we are making preparation to set out on a journey to go to Cologne in the occasion of the XXth World Youth Day celebration, let us first praise and thank the Lord for giving us this special gift to become part of this spiritual journey. As participants, we are relatively called not just to explore and appreciate the beauty and splendor of the place but also to explore and to re-discover the inner beauty and the richness of the faith of the young participants who will come and worship the Lord in Cologne. WYD is indeed a journey of faith, a kind of spiritual pilgrimage where people from different parts of the world are gathered together to express their faith and to share their life experiences. As pilgrims, we are therefore invited to prepare ourselves spiritually through prayer, meditation and value-formation. As legionaries, it is always important for us to be constantly reminded that God has called us to be part of this event because He deliberately wanted us to become living witnesses to His name. Furthermore, by looking at the Blessed Mother as our own model, we are therefore encouraged to live out the Spirit of the Legion with full vigor, vitality and power. Like Mary, let us remain fervent in the expression of our faith in 4 order to show to the world that although we are not that many but in God’s grace, still, we can make a difference in this world. I am certain that not everybody is privileged to be a part of this spiritual journey and for all of us who have been chosen and called to participate in the WYD, I really feel that this not just a matter of “privilege” but a “blessing”. Let us continue to hope and pray that through the grace of the Holy Triune God and through the intercession of our Blessed Mother, we may be continuously inspired to take up the challenge of bringing the freshness of the Gospel values to the young people of our times.
