Joe received his Masters of Architecture from the Savannah College of Art and Design and has been working in historic Beaufort, South Carolina for the last nine years. While living in Beaufort he designed projects ranging from high-end waterfront homes to historic renovations and restorations. Joe brings this experience to the Yadkin Valley through his new firm, S e e d Architecture which offers the following services: Architectural Design Development Consulting and Master Planning Feasibility Studies and Due Diligence Reports Sustainability Consulting Restaurant Design and Consulting Seed brings the building back to its roots, the site. Every project Seed designs is a site-specific response to its environment. Benefits of site-responsive architecture include: Designs that take full advantage of all of the site including views, breezes and contours Orienting the building to make the best use of sunlight, reducing energy costs and encouraging the integration of solar power Master plans which lay the groundwork for future development, carefully taking into consideration the purpose of each building, vineyard, stream or view Each project Seed designs is one-of-a-kind and is given the special consideration it deserves. Joe’s attention to detail and enthusiasm for architecture are only a couple of the benefits of working with Seed. Seed’s focus on sustainable design has many benefits for homeowners and developers. There are a number of substantial incentives available right now for renovating existing homes and buildings. Whether homeowners may qualify for a 30% (of installed cost) tax deduction for installing a new geothermal heat-pump or developers can recuperate up to 60% of construction expenditures for redeveloping a historic mill structure, there are many sound financial reasons to build “Green” now. Visit www.115main.com to find out about Seed’s own sustainable infill project and future office in Historic Downtown Elkin. For more information or to discuss a potential project contact Joe Seipel-Parks at 843-263-2300 or visit www.seedarchitecture.com. The course was conducted in Greensboro and is one in a series of professional education sequences that must be taken by real estate agents and brokers who will eventually qualify for the coveted Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) designation. The course covered the preparation of database systems, marketing materials, and financial information through the use of Microsoft Office. The benefit is to help prospects and clients make better buying and selling decisions by having complete information available. During the one-day courses, students were subject to hands-on development of plans and programs designed to ensure the professionalism of the residential sales associates. “There are many new marketing techniques that can effectively serve our real estate customers” said Mitchell, “and I have already begun to apply the procedures covered during this course in my work at Century 21 Hudspeth Properties.” Certified Residential Specialists Courses are presented in various cities throughout the United States in affiliation with COUNCIL OF RESIDENTIAL SPECIALISTS, an affiliate of the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS ®. An avenue that one may not consider when thinking of patient care is convenient parking. I its recent construction project, Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital has thought of everything, even parking close to the building. Hugh Chatham is providing not just any parking area, but Surry County’s first parking deck. This deck provides convenient, safe, and well-lit parking for patients and their families. The deck has three levels close to the elevator in the new patient tower and right next to the new Emergency Department. "The parking deck is comprised of precast sections that were trucked to Elkin and lifted into place by a huge crane," described Stuart Poston, Interim Chief Executive Officer. "When families come to visit patients it is not the time for a hike cross country from their car to the building. They need a dry place to leave their car, close enough to carry a suitcase and flowers safely to the building. That is why we are providing a multi-level parking deck. With two levels under roof, they can easily get to the door or the elevator whether it is a rainy, snowy or Carolina blue sky day." This added convenience for patients and families is part of the fifty million dollar expansion and modernization of the hospital. The expansion project is being supported by the "Sharing the Vision" capital campaign. Dr. Jim Harrell, campaign chair added, "In spite of its size, the parking deck blends right into the surroundings and doesn't give you the big city parking garage feeling that you get in other places." for web:Layout 1 9/23/09 1:17 PM Page 16 Page 16 — Chamber Newsletter, Fall 2009 Schonhofen Optometry celebrates 30 years Dr. Heiner is a Board Certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist with over 13 years experience.
