DESTINATION FACTS
Alanya & Castle
8 km from Alantur Hotel.Most of the castle was built in the 13th century under the Seljuq Sultanate of Rûm following the city's conquest in 1220 by Alaeddin Keykubad I as part
of a building campaign that included the Kızıl Kule.
The castle was built on the remnants of earlier Byzantine era and Roman era fortifications. After the area was pacified under the Ottoman Empire, the castle ceased to be purely
defensive, and numerous villas were built inside the walls during the 19th century. Today the building is an open-air museum. Access to the seaward castle is ticketed, but much
of the area inside the wall, including the landward castle is open to the general public.
The castle is located 250 metres (820 ft) high on a rocky peninsula jutting into the Mediterranean Sea, which protects it from three sides. The wall which surrounds the castle is
6.5 kilometres (4.0 mi) long and includes 140 towers. 400 different cisterns were built to serve the castle. [1] In 2009, city officials filed to include Alanya Castle and Tersane as
UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and were named to the 2009 Tentative List.
Alanya Dim River
5 km from Alantur Hotel.Dim River (Turkish: Dim Çayı) is a Turkish river, located in the Alanya district of Antalya province. The source of the Dim River are the river systems in
the highlands of Konya Province, with the river itself around 60 kilometres (37 mi) flowing westwards into the Mediterranean Sea.
The river is a popular tourist destination, with the wide Dim Çayi Valley area containing many riverside restaurants and tourist facilities. Water in this river is cold, with the whole
valley region generally more temperate than the rest of Turkey.In 2007, the Dim Dam was completed, which provides fresh water and electricity for Alanya.
Syedra Ruins
18 km from Alantur Hotel.Syedra was settled on a hill which is on the border between Kargicak Town and Seki Village. It is at the east of the city center and 23km far from
center. We should examine this historical city in two parts. The first part is the harbour part which is called Adatas district. It's the place from where everything, all food and all
articles of clothing were transported to the housing area. Today you can only see Adatas. I guess if we explore underwater around Adatas we can find many valuable structures.
We know that many structures on the beach got lost in the course of time. That's why examinations, investigations, researches and excavations should be done. At the west of
Adatas there is a small church between the banana gardens. Next to this church there is fresh water on the seaside. It's known that until recently, fishermen were using this
water. Now let's mention tne other part, the historical city. There are various roads that come here but there is a new road which is the best one. From 20th km of D400
highway with a hilly road after you pass Seki and Islakli Villages and Seki Primary School you reach the center of Syedra. After parking your car you start to mount towards the
peak. Various historical structures will be seen on both sides. You can sit on one of them and have a rest for a while. The height is nearly same with the height of Alanya Castle.
There is a wonderful view and across is the blueness of the Mediterranean Sea and at the right side is the Alanya Peninsula with the castle walls. When you look at the left side
you can see the part of D400 that goes towards Mersin -Adana, you can see Taurus Mountains and immense banana gardens. You'll understand why people call the area the
banana depot of Alanya. The Oba district is mentioned as the orange depot of Alanya.
Sapadere Canyon and Village
