The brake/tail light, license plate light, and rear direction turn signals are incorporated into a single
assembly. Access to the brake wire is possible by removing this assembly. To remove the assembly, you
must first remove the passenger seat.
The seat lock is located on the
rear fender, below the
brake/tail light unit. Insert
the ignition key into the seat
lock and turn it counterclockwise. This will release
the seat from its lock.
Lift the seat upwards and
rearwards.
Remove the seat from the
motorcycle.
Here is a close-up of the Rclip and wing nut that secures
the brake/tail light assembly.
Remove the R-clip and wing
nut.
Slide the brake/tail light
assembly out until you can
reach the wiring harness.
Disconnect the wiring harness
and remove the assembly
from the bike.
Now that you have access to the brake wire, you can install the tailBlazer.
Here is a close-up of the
female end of the wiring
harness. The brake wire is
blue.
Slide the wiring harness off of
the tab that secures it to the
brake/tail light assembly. Cut
the brake wire and strip both
ends about ¼”.
Crimp the insulated tab
connectors supplied with the
tailBlazer onto each end of
the brake wire.
Plug the tab connectors into
the tailBlazer.
Slide the wiring harness back
onto its tab. If your tailBlazer
came with the Ground Wire
option, you will not need it.
Secure it and the tailBlazer to
the brake/tail light assembly.
Connect the wiring harness
and install the brake/tail light
assembly by reversing the
steps used to remove it.
