a daily basis in my medical practice. Diligent or not, your skin

My favorite part about my job is the patient interactions and
ability to help people with their greatest insecurities. To know
that I’m trusted and appreciated for what I do, is why I’ve been
doing it for as long as I have. Plus it never gets boring; Dr. Lycka
is always searching for new innovative means to treat certain
conditions, so I’m always learning.
Q.
What is the most common advice you give
to patients?
Then most common advice I give patients is to be patient. Like
Dr. Lycka says, ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day.” Most patients are
in a rush to change everything or want it done yesterday. If you
take your time and follow proper treatment guidelines, the
outcome is a lot more satisfactory and longer-lasting.
Q. What is one of your favourite
procedures?
Right now anything I can do with Jessica Rabbit, our newest
laser, I get excited about! From scar revision to taking years off a
person’s face, it’s the most exciting for me.

Our Go Safe school education program has grown from
two classroom presentations just eight years ago to
averaging over 200 presentations a year in each of the
past three years! We’ve reached thousands of children and
youth across Alberta and are expanding into Ontario and
British Columbia. Many of Dr. Lycka’s patients have given
generously to this cause in the past and we’re happy to
report such great success because of this generosity!
The Foundation has also recently launched an interactive,
online component that supports in-class presentations
or can stand alone as a teaching tool (www.igosafe.ca/
education).

Hi From Jango
Hello everybody!
When we first met, I was a tiny, little
pup. Well, I have some news. Although
I’m still a small, energetic ball of fur, I am
really starting to grow! Yup. My parents took
me to the vet for a checkup and I learned that I am a
healthy weight and size for my age – and still growing strong!
I think all those treats Dr. Lycka has been sneaking me could
have something to do with it, but -- shhh -- don’t tell anyone.
The only thing is, just like a teenager, my little growth spurt
means I’ve been a little bit clumsy. I love to run in circles and
chase the girls around the living room, but nowadays it usually
ends with me sliding into the furniture and ending up in a
tangle. That’s OK though, I always bounce back and get ready
for another round! It sure makes me appreciate that my family
likes to play. They keep bringing me fun toys to rip around with.
(I think they’re learning that if they don’t, I will probably find
another toy to play with – and they don’t like losing their shoes
that way!). So this month I’m just happy to be surrounded by my
fun family who never forgets me. I hope that you are all having
as much fun spending time with your family too!
