Inauguration of new UPL Office in Tokyo, Japan.
Mrs. Sandra Shroff with Primary School children at
Ambegaon near Pauna Nagar.
Friends,
Today we see that our country is moving towards a new market economy – an economy
where all the companies’ energies are focused towards the consumer. The most important
consumer for United Phosphorus is the ‘FARMER’.
With our team efforts we are trying to give better, safer and cost – effective agrochemicals to
our farmers in India and also to our customers all over the world.
United Phosphorus has worked and grown around the philosophy which is directed towards
agriculture.
Behind every goal, every objective set lies some well–defined principles, proper integration,
research and development in technology, environment protection, energy conservation
and social responsibility.
We strive for the best quality at all the levels. The Company’s success lies in continuously
focusing on improvement of proper processes and quality. In the last few years, we have
seen encouraging growth rate. Today more than 75% of the chemicals and agrochemicals
produced are exported around the world.
United Phosphorus has been acknowledged as an undisputed leader in agrochemicals
field in India.
Today, United Phosphorus is the fastest growing Indian agrochemical company. You will
see in this issue how United Phosphorus works as one family. We recently organized
the Kutumb Mela at Vapi, where workers, their families, technicians, executives and directors
took part as one family.

The Early Commuter
A commuter is in the habit of arriving at his suburban
station each evening exactly at five “o” clock.
His wife always meets at the station and drives him
home. One day he takes an earlier train, arriving
at the station at four. The weather is pleasant, so
instead of telephoning home has starts walking
along the route always taken by his wife. They meet
somewhere on the way. He gets into the car and
they drive home, arriving at their house ten minutes
earlier than usual. Assuming that the wife always
drives at a constant speed, and that on this occasion
she just left in time to meet the five “O” clock train,
can you determine how long the husband walked
before he was picked up?
Answer in the next issue. First three right Answers win lucky prizes.

Handling Team Problems
GRUMBLING
You could well find people
complaining about:
l Pay
l Working conditions
l Terms of employment
l Lack of resources (people/equipment)
In this state, people may not be receptive to
the idea of team building or team working.
All their energy will go into their grievances.
As a leader, you will need to try and get these
sorted out before you can ask or expect people
to pull together as a unit.
