To give all its efforts a concrete shape it formed UPL Environmental Infrastructure Group. This Group has brought the experts in environmental care under one roof. The names include, Bharuch Enviro Infrastructure Ltd. (BEIL), Enviro Technology Ltd. (ETL) and Associated Environmental Engineers Ltd. (AEEL). Besides the above three companies, there is an addition of two more companies in the group. Djai Power Ltd., formed for generating power from municipal waste, and Shivalik Solid Waste Management Ltd., for TSDF facilities in Himachal Pradesh. Municipal Solid Waste Processing & Disposal Facility BEIL, Bharuch Environment Ltd, has bagged one prestigious order from CIDCO (City Industrial Development Corporation), Mumbai for treatment of 55 mt/day MSW (Municipal Solid Waste) at village CHAL, Taloja, Dist; Raigad. BEIL shall construct the facilities at site and run the site for a period of 3 years. BEIL shall be generally compost from the site. The site is the first of its kind in the area in New Mumbai. Capping of Gorai Site at Mumbai The first of its kind project in Asia, the capping of Gorai dump site which is spread over 17 hectares with a 33-foot high garbage mound has been awarded to United Phosphorus Ltd., by the MCGM (Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai). United Phosphorus Ltd. will ensure the due maintenance of the capped and sealed Gorai dump site and shall create a beautiful landscape over it which will blend with the adjoining Gorai creek. A beautiful walkway will be created through the site and at certain areas terrace plains will be created. The dump site which has spread over 17 hectares till the end of June 2006 has a total quantity of MSW (Municipal Solid Waste) and C&D waste stored of approximately 2.34 million tonnes.
