Receiver. It provides the functionality of a normal
tuner: seek through stations, access to 20 favorites
and direct access to a station by entering the channel
frequency. In addition, the TM-HD/R provides the
ability to receive an HD Radio ™ broadcast. The TMHD/R Module outputs metadata (channel name, artist
name and song title) on IntelliControl ICS user interfaces
with displays. Multiple TM-HD/R Tuner Modules can
be used in a single chassis to allow multiple AM/FMHD channels to be played simultaneously in different
zones.
FEATURES AND BENEFITS
• Plug and Play Integration
The TM-HD/R module will automatically identify
itself to the IntelliFile ® 3 Programming Software

MEDIA ACCESS CONTROL ADDRESS (MAC ID)
LOCATING THE MAC ID
The Media Access Control Address (MAC ID), tells the
IntelliControl ICS Modular MultiZone Receiver which
device, in this case an iRemote, is sending commands.
The IntelliControl ICS Modular MultiZone Receiver then
knows which zone to turn on and which source to select
for that zone.

3-30 Volt Sync
If the source component has no Video output, connect the control voltage from a current sensing device
like the Niles CS-12V to Voltage Sync IN. Polarity:
TIP=+12VDC; SLEEVE=GND.
Using the Niles CS-12V Current Sensor:
The CS-12V will sense the difference in current draw
between stand-by and on for the source it is sensing.
The CS-12V will send 12V to the sync input to let the
IntelliControl ICS Modular MultiZone Receiver know that
the source is on. The IntelliControl ICS Modular MultiZone
Receiver will appropriately manage power commands for
the source component by knowing when it is on or off.
EXPANDING THE SYSTEM WITH AUDIO
When using multiple chassis, connect the Left and Right
Cascade Audio OUT of the IM-AUDIO to the Left and
Right Audio IN on the IM-AUDIO Module in the same
number card slot on the Slave chassis. Up to four Slave
chassis may be used in a system.

USER INTERFACES
ZIGBEE™ NETWORKS
HOW A ZIGBEE RF NETWORK WORKS
The iRemote ® utilizes ZigBee radio technology to communicate bi-directionally to the IntelliControl ICS Modular MultiZone Receiver. ZigBee radios operate in the
2.4GHz band. Both the iRemote handheld remote and
the charging base have radios based on ZigBee Technology. Each radio has an operational Radio-Frequency
(RF) range as depicted in below. The operational RF
range can vary depending on the home’s construction and RF environment. When your iRemote is out of
range, the LCD will display the message; “Searching
for Network.” Once you have come back into range,
the LCD will display the message, “Connecting to Network.” When network connection is complete, the LCD
will display the correct “Now Playing” screen and cor-
responding metadata. When more than one iRemote is
installed into a home, the operational RF ranges of the
additional iRemote Bases combine to form a Mesh Network. This mesh network is the sum of all the operational
ranges and greatly expands the RF coverage area. In
some cases it may be necessary to place an additional
iRemote Charger Base in a different area of the house

CONNECTING THE MASTER CHARGING BASE
At least one iRemote Charging Base must remain connected to the IntelliControl ICS Modular MultiZone
Receiver, via a CAT-5 cable, to convert ZigBee radio
communication messages to system control commands.
Once connected, designate this base the “Master Charging Base” (See below). All other iRemote Charging
Bases in the system can be plugged into any unswitched
AC outlet to provide wireless two-way radio connectivity
and iRemote battery charging.

ZIGBEE™ NETWORKS
CONFIGURING THE iREMOTE ® NETWORK
To ensure optimal two-way communication between
multiple iRemote’s and a IntelliControl ICS Modular
MultiZone Receiver, we have devised a methodology
that assigns and tracks 3 characteristics for each iRemote
in a system. During iRemote Network configuration,
each iRemote is assigned an Network ID #, an RF Channel # and a unique Unit ID #.
Up to fifteen iRemote’s can exist on one RF Network.
Currently, two networks are provided to allow a total of
thirty iRemotes to communicate simultaneously, in a single system. An advantage of utilizing this methodology
is that if your neighbor owns an IntelliControl ICS system with iRemote’s, their iRemotes will not interfere with
the iRemotes from your system.
(CONTINUED)
Configuring the iRemote ZigBee RF Network is accomplished during system configuration using the IntelliFile ®3
software after all the components are connected and
powered up (see below).
CONFIGURING THE iREMOTE NETWORK
Network ID #(1-15): Selects unique Network ID
number for the first fifteen iRemotes in a system.
RF Channel #(1-15): Selects a specific RF frequency for
communication to the system on the selected Network.
Unit ID #(1-15): Selects a unique ID Number for
each iRemote in the Network so multiple iRemotes can
simultaneously communicate to the system without any
interference.

SELECTING A PLACEMENT
SITE FOR THE GXR2
Like any high-fidelity component, the GXR2 will last much
longer if it is given adequate ventilation for proper cooling. When installing the GXR2 in a cabinet, be sure that
the cabinet’s rear is open to receive fresh air in order to
provide proper cooling. If the cabinet’s design does not
accommodate an open rear, install two small “boxer fans”
to provide continuous airflow into and out of the cabinet.
Place the GXR2 so it has at least seven inches of free air
space above it. If the receiver is located on a carpeted surface, place a board under the receiver’s feet. Do not block
the ventilation holes on the top and bottom of the GXR2.
CAUTION!
When using low-impedance speaker
loads (less than 8 ohms Nominal)
you must use boxer fans as shown.

proper ventilation..
CAUTION: The card module is susceptible to static discharge. Be sure to use a grounding strap or touch an
earth ground prior to picking up the module. Handle the
card by its edges.
Allow a minimum of 2” of depth
behind unit to accommodate cables
and connectors.
If the cabinet rear is not open to fresh
air or if you’re using low-impedance
loads, install two “boxer fans” to
provide continuous air flow into and
out of the cabinet.
1. Carefully slide the card module into the appropriate
card slot. (Refer to the GXR2 Installation Worksheet

Adjust GXR2 input levels to balance different source
audio output levels. This procedure requires that all
sources be on and playing. Radio stations should be
