The Public Policy Committee of the Willmar Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce
has organized election and campaign materials for persons interested in campaigning for the City Council, School Board and Kandiyohi County Commissioner positions. Filings open May 17th and close May 31st. If needed, the Primary election is August 9, 2016 and the General Election is November 8, 2016.
Information is organized from the City, School and County Administrators to assist potential candidates regarding commonly asked questions. Pat Solheid, long
time committee member also states, “The Chamber takes an active interest in the
election process. With City Council, School Board, and County Commissioner
positions up for election in Willmar, New London and Spicer, there are plenty of
opportunities to become an active to participant on a governing body.”
Individuals who are interested in running for the office of County Commissioner,
School Board or City Council, are encouraged to contact the Chamber Office,
235-0300, to receive a complimentary copy of the materials or they can attend
an informational luncheon featuring retired elected officials talking about their
experience as an elected official and business person. The meeting will take place
on Tuesday, April 12th during a noon luncheon meeting from 12:00 – 1:30 P.M.
at the Chamber Office and potential attendees are encouraged to RSVP so the
proper meeting arrangements can be made by calling or emailing the Chamber
at 235-0300 or [email protected]. Space is limited so please
contact the Chamber today.
