#heleonkakaako - Cycle On Hawaii
HALEKAUWILA STREET What are the benefits of Complete Streets? • Complete streets create a balanced transportation system that can create economic growth and stability by providing accessible and efficient connections between residences, schools, parks, offices, public transportation and retail destinations. BULBOUTS • Improves safety by reducing crashes through safety improvements. • Encourages more walking and bicycling in a country with high obesity levels. • Helps ease transportation congestion and increases overall capacity of the network. • Helps children by providing spaces for bicycling and walking so they can be active and gain independence. • Creates good air quality by minimizing motor vehicle miles traveled – if each resident of a community of 100,000 replaced one car trip with one bike trip just once a month, it would cut carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 3,764 tons per year. TRAFFIC CIRCLE PARKLET COOKE STREET • Integrating sidewalks, bike lanes, transit amenities and safe crossings into the initial design of a project makes fiscal sense, sparing the expense of retrofits later. @cycleonhawaii #ourkakaako PROMOTING HEALTHY LIFESTYLES THROUGH CYCLOVIAS AUAHI STREET inc CYCLE ON HAWAI‘ HAWAI ‘ I IS THE HOST OF HELE ON KAKA‘ KAKA ‘ AKO #heleonkakaako #heleonkakaako COVER ART BY SOLOMON ENOS ALA MOANA BLVD.
