An Industrial Visit To "THE HINDU”, newspaper printing press On 16th December,2010 By the Finance Club FINALYST Report on Industrial Visit to "THE HINDU”, newspaper printing press An industrial visit to "THE HINDU”, newspaper printing press on 16th, December, 2010 was arranged under the Finance Club for the students of both the1st and the 2nd year along with the faculty. Approximate 100 students visited the Hindu Publishing House. As a newspaper is a regularly scheduled publication containing news, information, and advertising, usually printed on relatively inexpensive, low-grade paper such as newsprint. The Hindu is an Indian English-language daily newspaper published since 1878. With a circulation of 1.46 million, The Hindu is the second-largest circulated daily English newspaper in India after Times of India, and slightly ahead of The Economic Times. According to the Indian Readership Survey (IRS) 2010 The Hindu is the third most widely read English newspaper in India (after Times of India and Hindustan Times) with a readership of 21.59 lakhs.It has its largest base of circulation in South India, especially Tamil Nadu. Headquartered at Chennai (formerly called Madras), The Hindu was published weekly when it was launched in 1878, and started publishing daily in 1889. The Hindu became, in 1995, the first Indian newspaper to offer an online edition. The Hindu is published from 14 locations—Bangalore, Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Hubli, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Madurai, Mangalore, Thiruvananthapuram, Tiruchirapalli, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam. The Hindu publishing press is located at one end of Delhi in Wazirpur Industrial estate. Mr.Kapil, Marketing Manager of the branch and the other department members took a keen interest in the students by showing their various departments and explaining them the working of the various processes of the press. It was a nice experience for the students as a round of question and answer showed that they are very curious to know things .The press officials too appreciated the students for their interest and discipline. Thus the visit was very explorative as it gave an understandable view on their various operations and departments.
