For more information contact 707-552-2400 The Hub's Family Game Night Vallejo Jazz Series Wednesday Night Ramble Napa-Solano Greek Food Festival, September 12 Room of Voices Input & Suggestions Go Greek for a day! The Napa-Solano Greek Community will host its annual Greek Festival at Street. Constantine & Helen Church, a parish of the Metropolis of San Francisco. Located at 1224 Alabama Street, the Food Festival includes dancing, homemade Greek food and pastries, music from Mediterranean Soul, and tours of the Greek Orthodox Church. Free parking is available, and all proceeds will go to St. Constantine & Helen Orthodox Church of Vallejo. The Hub's Family Game Night- 2nd and 4th Saturdays General admission is $2, and children under 12 are FREE. * Saturday, September 12 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. * Sunday, September 13 from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. For more information, click here, or call (707) 642-6916 Loma Vista Farm - Pasta Feed, September 12 Visit Loma Vista Farms for their Annual Pasta Feed Fundraiser! The fundraiser is being held this year on September 12 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Florence Douglas Center. The fundraising event includes a silent auction, raffle, and prizes. All proceeds will benefit the new Animal Habitat Projects at Loma Vista Farm. Tickets are on sale, now: $20 for adults, $15 for Children 6 to 12, Free for children age 5 and under. Tickets purchased at the door are $25. Last year's event was sold out, so purchase tickets now and enjoy pasta and prizes! It's all fun & games at The Hub! Bring your friends & family to play all kinds of games. There will be board games, card games, role playing games-all kinds of games! The event takes place on 2nd and 4th Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Families can bring their own games or take part in Monopoly, Risk, Stratego, and card games that will be present. There will be food by The Yolk, live music, tours, garden tasting, and raffles. In conjunction with the birthday festivities, there will also be the grand opening of the Garden Mobile and Global Center for Success Meditation Garden, funded by the City of Vallejo through Participatory Budgeting, a project utilizing Measure B tax revenues. Located behind 1055 Azuar Avenue on Mare Island, the Vallejo People's Garden is a community garden collaboration of many different individual volunteers and partner organizations in Vallejo. Vallejo Celebrates Youth, September 12 The 8th Annual "Vallejo Celebrates Youth" health and awareness festival at Children's Wonderland takes place September 12, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The purpose of this free public event is to Celebrate Vallejo Youth while providing families and children with resources and information to provide a healthy childhood and strengthen the community. The Greater Vallejo Recreation District, First 5 Solano, Kaiser-Permanente and other local organizations have partnered together to promote a variety activities for children and parents to participate in. Unity Day "Emerging," September 13 Sunday Vallejo Jazz SeriesBobbe Norries & Larry Dunlap, September 13 Vocalist Bobbe Norris has been spotlighted on signature television shows including Ed Sullivan, Mike Douglas and Johnny Carson. Following her stint with Columbia, she has continued to deliver vocals all over the world, including in New York, Holland, England, Italy, the Caribbean, Japan, San Francisco, etc., frequently accompanied by her pianist, arranger and husband Larry Dunlap. Dunlap, also a music editor and consultant at Sher Music Co., has been accompanist to various artists including, Dame Cleo Laine, Mark Murphy, The Pointer Sisters, Joe Williams, and Sheila Jordan. This husband-wife duo presents an exciting program of Standards from the Great American Songbook, Jazz and Brazilian music as well as original music with an intuitive communication that can only come from years of performing together. Head out to the Vallejo City Park on the corner of Alabama and Marin Streets to take part in Unity Day, a collaborative effort between Vallejo Together, GVRD and SolTrans. Unity Day allows Vallejo residents from every race, age, sexuality, and creed to celebrate who they are through various forms of music, dance, song, exhibition, and food. Wednesday Night Ramble Backpack giveaways, free haircuts, interactive business and community booths are all part of the free event taking place Sunday, September 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Josh McIntosh and Jason Lynn, September 16 2015 Coastal Cleanup Day, September 19 Vallejo Sanitation & Flood Control District is proud to announce the 31st annual California Coastal Cleanup Day taking place on Saturday, September 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Last year's event was successful with 732 volunteers picking up more than 14,300 pounds of trash and recyclables! 20 different locations throughout Vallejo will be available this year for volunteers to clean trash and debris from local creeks, lakes, marshes and the shoreline. Those that wish to volunteer may either register early here and be given a clean-up site, or come to the Vallejo Marina at 42 Harbor Way on the morning of the event and be assigned a site upon arrival. Free Family Day- Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum, September 19 It's Free Family Day at the Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum! Attend the admission-free event on Saturday, September 19 from 12-Noon to 4:00 p.m. at 734 Marin Street (the third Saturday of every month is free). View historic exhibits, including the Hall of History: Vallejo's Maritime Heritage which features paintings, drawings, and photographs from the Museum's permanent collection. Come ramble with Josh McIntosh and Jason Lynn. Joshua "Tree" McIntosh was named after the magical place where his parents played in the desert as teenagers. As a young man, Josh dove into the music scene fronting the acoustic rock jam outfit Blew Willie and delivered over a thousand performances all over the west. Quickly recognized for improvisational skills as a guitarist and powerful soul dripped vocals, McIntosh and Blew Willie established their own presence in the scene with appearances on Blues Travelers H.O.R.D.E. Fest, High Sierra, and at premier west coast venues such as House of Blues LA, Great American Music Hall and Slims SF. With AAA radio support from stations like San Francisco's KFOG and reviews from jam scene magazines including Relix, the SF Bay Area embraced Blew Willie and its 3 hour dance parties and quality song writing. Josh is currently preparing to record his next offering "Rattlesnakes in the Garden". Hot House Blues with Tia Carroll and Hard Work, September 23 This band is rightfully called Hard Work. They sizzle and take the audience on the ride right along with them. Sporting two fine guitar players and sometimes even a Conga player, this is a must see band. Even when they have stripped it down to bass, drums, guitar and vocals, you will still feel the power that Hard Work delivers. Community Coffee Tasting Event, September 19 & 26 Take an aromatic and heart-warming journey from the farm to the cup! The Community Coffee Tasting Event on Saturday, September 19 allows visitors to sit, sip, stay, and be satisfied. With over 20 coffees from all over the world, the event allows visitors to sit, sip, stay, and be satisfied while enjoying the freshest art and designs created and sold by artists. Local artisans peddle their talents from Raku pottery, handmade designer handbags, glazed pottery, original art, jewelry, custom fire pits and much more! Located at 11 Sixth Street in Vallejo, the event will also host an open mic at 11:00 a.m. for all ages. Expect poetry, live acoustic music, comedy, dance, and various talents! For over 20 years Moschetti has roasted, packaged, and supplied coffee from their small roasting plant in Vallejo for 300 locations all over the Greater Bay Area and Northern California. Room of Voices- Disco Egypt- Mingo Lewis and Karissa Ssapien, September 25 American Conductor Thomas Heuser will be leading the symphony, with Inna Faliks on piano. Performers include Smetana, Vltava (The Moldau) from Má Vlast, Rachmaninoff, Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor and Dvorak, Symphony No. 9 in E Minor, "New World." This night will feature Room of Voices music, along with visual film projection and lots of dancing! Come prepared in Egyptian costume and get to ready to party. You're likely to see anyone from Cleopatra, to Horus, to Osiris, or even Isis at this Disco Egypt night. Featuring Mingo Lewis (drums/vocals) & Karissa Ssapien (synths/vocals), Room of Voices is a new direction in music and a collective of world sounds. The event will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m at Hogan Auditorium. Admission is $15 for students, $25 for seniors, and $35 for the general audience. Vallejo Symphony Concert 1 "Wild and Serene," September 20 The 2nd Annual Bay's Finest Car, Truck and Bike Show, September 26 Head out to the Solano County Fairgrounds on Saturday, September 26 to see the 2nd Annual Bay's Finest Car, Truck, and Bike Show! This event, presented by Havok Bay Area, runs from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and includes mo re than 30 trophies, raffle prizes, and a live DJ. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Humane Society of the North Bay. Entrance to the show is free for spectators with $10 parking.
