POND TOUR
UNFORTUNATELY, we have to cancel this year’s pond tour.
We realized at the board meeting last week that too many things
had not worked out, and time had gotten too short.
We know this is disappointing. Next year, we will do better ... promise.
Hello all! Hope your ponds have stopped overflowing and you plants escaped the hail (ours
didn't). So many leaves in the pond that my filters have clogged up! Because of all the rain we have had in the last couple of weeks, it's important to keep an eye on
your Ph. Rain water is acidic and will drop the Ph of our ponds.
The pond tour this year has been cancelled. We just don't have enough ponds for a tour, but
there is always next year. Thanks to those of you who were willing to show your ponds you folks can now relax.
Phil Goulding's pond will be on the Pikes Peak Water Garden Society pond tour and is well
worth seeing. PPWGS pond tour will be July 26 and 27th. You can get online maps at their
web site (ppwgs.org). Enjoy their tour and think about putting yours on our tour next year.
NEXT MEETING: WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 10
Normally the meeting would be on September 3, but we moved it to accommodate Labor Day plans.
We have several ideas for this meeting, one of which is to have a guest speaker. We will fill you in on
details soon.

KODAMA KOI BUY IN COLORADO SPRINGS
!
This event is also a NO GO. We have had no response, and feel
that members will be better served by purchasing directly from
Kodama Koi Farms or communicating with Taro prior to the
Rocky Mountain Koi Club Show and ask him to bring koi for you.
Some of you may still have store credit with Kodama. He has careful records, so if
you want to use this, simply pick a koi on his website, auction, or ebay and let him
know that you want to purchase it with store credit.

ROCKY MOUNTAIN KOI CLUB KOI SHOW
This will be held this year on August 16 and 17 - a great opportunity to see some beautiful koi, maybe
buy some new ones from the vendors there, and spend time with koi kichi from all over the place!

They are requesting help, as well - from the newsletter: Set up will start at 10:00 am at Country
Fair/Welby Gardens, 17201 W. 64th Ave (Ralston Rd and Easley), on Thursday, August
14th. Fish move in on the 15th. Tear down will start as soon as the show is over
at 2:00 pm on Sunday the 17th. Please notify Ed Painz [email protected] if you can help with
either or both! Thank you in advance!
ELECTIONS - coming up soon! If you are even vaguely interested in being on the board and
helping make decisions and keep the club moving forward, please give me a call and we can talk.
We really like having new people step up with new ideas and suggestions.

UV Ballast Failure - Learned something NEW!
A UV ballast or power supply should last several years. Mine keep burning out much
sooner than that, but just days over the one year warranty, of course. In talking with the
Emperor rep at Pentair, I learned that these ballasts are very sensitive to power surges. He
suggested using a surge protector for these units. I have plugged (yet another new) one in
with a surge protector - we’ll see if that helps!
