KING’S OWN INSTITUTE* Success in Higher Education April 2015 Dear Student, Thank you for accepting your place to study with King’s Own Institute (KOI). As enrolment is fast approaching, we would like to invite you to enrol in your course for the upcoming July Trimester. The key enrolment dates for Trimester 3 (November), 2015 are: First Day of Enrolment 26 October 2015 Postgraduate Orientation Day 04 November 2015 at 2pm Undergraduate Orientation Day 05 November 2015 at 2 pm Trimester 1 Commences 09 November 2015 Last Day of Enrolment 20 November 2015 Census Date 30 November 2015 It is compulsory that you attend the KOI orientation program, so please take note of the orientation dates above and attend on the correct day. As a new student, it is important that you enrol before the Trimester start date, 9 November 2015. The enrolment process includes meeting the conditions on your offer letter, choosing subjects, finalising payment, organising and receiving your timetable, and obtaining your student ID card. Before you start enrolling KOI wishes to minimise the time you spend on the enrolment, therefore it is compulsory that you bring the following documents with you when you come to enrol: • • • • Your current passport and visa details A copy of your KOI eCoE Your original copy of your English Certificate (e.g. IELTS, PET, CAE, etc.) Original/certified copies of transcripts and completion certificates and any other academic qualifications you have completed Students who do not provide the above documents will not be able to commence the enrolment process, so please make sure you have everything you need before you come to enrol. It is also important to remember that all new students are required to enrol in a total of four subjects for their first Trimester. If you would like to check on what days your subjects will be running before you commit, you will be able to come to Level 1, 31 Market Street, Sydney to check the timetables on display. For more information, please speak to our Reception Desk when you arrive. Settling your fees As part of the enrolment process you are also required to meet the financial commitments of your study and pay your tuition fees in full. Fee agreements/Fee payment plans are not available to students. If you are unable to pay, we are unable to enrol you. For students who pay through their agents, receipts from agents will not be accepted as valid proof of payment. As a student, you must contact your agent first and confirm that your tuition fee has been paid to KOI. Timetables, Recognition of Prior Learning and Deferment requests Once you have settled your fees, you are then able to move on to organise your timetable with one of our enrolment staff. Make sure you are happy with your timetable, as once it is finalised no further changes may be made. All requests for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or exemptions must be made prior to completing your enrolment. Any RPL requests received during the enrolment period will be assessed within 2 – 4 business days. If you would like to get your RPLs reassessed, please be aware this service attracts a $100 fee which you must first settle before your application can be submitted. If the duration of your studies is reduced due to receiving additional RPLs, you are required to revise your eCoE, which will attract a further $200 administrative fee. If you would like to defer your studies, you must first submit your request in writing. Please be aware deferment requests can only be approved with the provision of exceptional circumstances. Any deferment of your study will attract a $200 administrative fee and any outstanding fees will need to be settled before your revised eCoE can be issued. If you are requesting to defer your studies due to a delay in your visa process, you will need to provide the Request Letter from your DIBP Case Officer. In this case, your revised eCoE will not attract the $200 administrative fee. Semester based Trimester system KOI operates on a semester based, trimester system. It is compulsory for students to complete two consecutive trimesters in their first year of study. After two consecutive trimesters of study, students may apply to take trimester breaks. Approval of a trimester break will depend upon academic progress.
