PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS FROM PREVIOUS MEETINGS
DEC 4—[The following article and photo were
submitted by Chet Crowley]
Emma Johnson gave a program on Key
Clubs. Emma is a senior at Glenn Academy
in Brunswick, Georgia. Her mother is a Kiwanis member and Emma has been serving
her community since the age of eight. She is
currently the president of her Key Club and
Georgia Key Club District Project Chair and
has served as past lieutenant governor. Emma also participates in sailing, lacrosse, Model UN, Interact Club, Beta Club, and Environmental Club.
[Ed Note: Key Club’s web-site says: Geor- Emma Johnson educated us about Key Club
gia District of Key Club International is
working hard to assist Kiwanis and UNICEF with eliminating Neonatal Tetanus (NNT) from the
face of the planet. The District Board has set Georgia’s fundraising goal at $15,000 for the 2014
-2015 Service Year. Key Club is the oldest and largest service program for high school students
What makes Key Club so successful is the fact that it is a student led organization that teaches
leadership through serving others. Members of the Kiwanis International family, Key Club
members build themselves as they build their schools and communities,]
DEC 11—Today was our annual visit by the Sumter Middle Rhythm and Rhyme. Arranged by Charlene, the group of over 85, sang a variety of songs the sixties and Christmas tunes.— three were sing-alongs, Under the direction of Mr. Greg Appling the students were well behaved and sounded clear and
their harmony was perfect. Several of the songs featured soloists who were fabulous. Maybe they can
revive the Singers when they get to High School. They are planning to take a trip to Orlando in 2016.
