Many thanks to the Golden Hearts Ministry and all the SJBC family & friends for
your generous donations to our annual “Shoes for School” Community Outreach
Project. Your contributions totaling $7,390 enabled disadvantaged families to
purchase shoes for school. Gift cards were distributed to 14 elementary and
middle schools in Howard County. We praise God for your commitment!

Church Evacuation Overview
In the event of an emergency you are requested to remain where you are in order to
receive instructions on how to proceed.
If we need to evacuate the building:
1. Please follow the instructions of staff positioned along the way and head to the
designated safe area.
2. Parents please do not attempt to go and get your children if they are in Children’s
Church. Once all children have been accounted for, you will be allowed to reunite
with them.
3. Please do not attempt to go to your car or to drive off the parking lot.
4. Please remain in the designated safe area until instructions to return to the building
are given.
We are so happy to have you worship with us today.
As you take your seat, please take a minute and familiarize yourself
with where the exits are located.
In the event of an emergency you will receive appropriate
instructions from the pulpit.

If you would like to reserve a table after Sunday Worship services in the Fellowship

Standing in the Need of Prayer
Every Sunday, worshippers can bring burdens and concerns to the Lord in prayer. A Deacon will be available after each Sunday service to pray with you in the
Prayer Room.
Annual Church Picnic—Sat., Aug. 20th from 1:30-5 p.m.

The picnic is a great time for members from all three services to meet and fellowship!
Bring your umbrellas, blankets and lawn chairs, and thirst for fun! Members please let us

On Thurs., Sept. 15th at 6:30 p.m. there will be Music Ministry Meeting for choir leadership, choral singers and musicians. If you are in the Cathedral Choir, Gospel Choir, Male
Chorus, Morning Glory or VOI ministries as a choir president, singer or musician this
meeting is for you. This meeting will give information on ministry changes, schedules, new
initiatives and more.
SAVE THE DATE - Sat., Sept. 17th from 9 a.m. - noon there will be a Decoded Praise Workshop
for all DP members. Details are coming soon!!

Journey to Better Health Screening—Sun., Aug. 28th after each service
SJBC in partnership with Howard County General Hospital’s Journey to Better Health (J2BH)
will offer free health screenings. The screenings will help identify individuals with potential issues and invite them to enroll in free healthy lifestyle classes to manage chronic conditions.
Also, participants will be eligible for one – on-one health care guidance.
Screening Services: Blood Pressure Screening, Prediabetes Risk Assessment & At– Risk
Weight Assessment
Part II of the program is the Member Care Support Network (MCSN). Individuals enrolled in
the J2BH program are eligible. This program connects hospitalized members to a trained
SJBC volunteer Community Companion. The companion is there to offer support and connect individuals to a wide variety of health resources in Howard County to support their journey to better health.

Youth, young adults, volunteers and parents join us for our 2nd Annual BACK2SCHOOL Weekend!! On Sat., Aug. 27th from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., we’ll have water games, water kickball, over
1500 water balloons, a flag football game for teens/young adults, flag football for children,

Men’s Ministry Coffee Talk w/ the Fellas
“Reaching Beyond Limitations, Finish and Win!”

The Bible tells us that we “shall have tribulations” in this life. However, we know that we
are more than conquerors through Jesus. Even though the enemy would have us believe
that he is control, Christ has already proclaimed that we are Finishers and Winners and
“all things are possible through Christ”. Joins us for our next Coffee Talk as we delve into
what it takes to overcome adversity, be strong finishers and be the winners God created

Mission Ministry’s Annual School Supply Drive
The Missions Ministry is partnering with the Community Action Council and the Howard County
School System by participating in “Prepare for Success School Supply Drive”. We seek your donations to be distributed to students in need in Howard County schools. You may place your donated items in the box on the stage of the Fellowship Hall.

MISSIONS MINISTRY—HABITAT FOR HUMANITY of the Chesapeake – Some of our Mission
members will be volunteering in Baltimore City on Sat., Aug. 20th to assist in refurbishing housing.
