30,000 metres of snow and ice
The Unimog 400 – cold and calculating against the elements: with its snow cutter and blower
the U 400 makes sure that mountain roads are kept clear.
2,000 standing obstacles
The Unimog U 20 with verge mower, delineator post detector and trimmer combination.
Delineator posts are no obstacle for the U 20 when mowing verges. It drives and works
quickly, without interruption.
1,000 tonnes trailer load
The Unimog U 400 as a road-railer with torque converter and shunting equipment.
As strong as a shunting engine, but much more cost-effective. And more versatile.
After shunting, the road-railer Unimog simply drives by road to its next job.
365 days of high tension
The Unimog U 500 with insulated aerial platform. With a working height of up to 20 m and
insulated up to 69,000 V, the Unimog makes sure that the current flows, even off
the beaten track in difficult terrain.
280 square kilometres of forest fire
The Unimog as a highly mobile spearhead vehicle for fighting forest fires. Even the greatest heat doesn’t make it sweat.
With up to 6,000 litres cubic capacity, the Unimog extinguishes the fire in the making.

As a universal implement carrier, the Unimog U 20
from 7.5 to 9.3 t max. weight is perfect for all the needs
of a municipal maintenance yard. It costs no more than an
up-market municipal tractor, has all the advantages of a
four-wheel drive truck and the power reserves of a genuine
Unimog.
7 metre high floods
The Unimog U 5000 with air-intake pipes installed high up and fording ability
up to 1.20 m. In any elements, in its element: the Unimog makes sure that no
relief operation gets wet feet.

weight, the Unimog U 300/U 400/U 500 provides
unparalleled top performance. Especially for professionals
who want to combine peak performance with economic
efficiency the whole year round.
With its unique off-road capabilities the Unimog
U 4000/U 5000 beats every rival hollow. Its outstanding
features make sure of that: its flexible frame concept
for great rigidity on the road and great torsional flexibility
off-road; its superior four-wheel drive concept with
differential locks in both axles as well as portal axles for
high ground clearance.
For over 60 years
The Mercedes-Benz Unimog
The drive concept of the very first Unimog was based on an ambitious idea: to redefine operational capability on four wheels. From
the idea came worldwide success. For over 60 years, Unimog has
been combining toughness with absolute reliability, a long life span
and economic efficiency. Even today with over 380,000 Unimog
built, its basic idea is right up-to-date. Day after day it proves this
worldwide. Often under very difficult climatic and topographic
conditions. Whether as a highly versatile implement-carrier with
exchangeable implements or in the extreme off-road version for
getting to worksites inaccessible to other vehicles. Often copied
but never achieved, the Unimog is and will remain unique in the
sum of its attributes.

programme in the lower performance sector as

Chassis expertise
Where there is a Unimog, there is also a way
Go off the road, accelerate and you’ll find. Where others get wheelspin,
the Unimog really gets going. It takes crews, material and heavy
equipment fast and safely to the worksite. Over hill and dale, up extreme
climbs and slopes, through water, snow and mud. Its outstanding
off-road capabilities are not without good reason. They are part of a
chassis expertise which is unmatched worldwide.

Dynamic performance over any terrain. Profit from a
chassis expertise no other manufacturer worldwide has
on offer; which gives your operational strength a totally
new dimension. Because no matter whether deep snow
or floods, mud or scree – the Unimog gets you to your
destination without any detours. Thanks to its unusually
high ground clearance, favourable angles of approach and
departure, extreme stability, superior climbing ability,
excellent traction and up to 16 forward gears and six or
eight reverse gears. Plus a top speed of up to 90 km/h on
paved roads. More vehicle dynamics are not possible.
Four-wheel drive. The Unimog has an four-wheel drive that
is unmatched by any other. And this is how it works: on the
one hand, engageable differential locks ensure low slip and
highest traction in both axles; on the other hand, its axle
suspension with its coil springs makes it possible to keep
all four wheels firmly on the ground. In addition, its frame
design with tubular cross members gives enormous rigidity
on roads and torsional flexibility off-road. But it gets even
better. Due to its double three-point mounting of sensitive
units and bodies, the Unimog frame can twist when off-road
without putting any strain on either units or bodies.
Uncompromising four-wheel drive with differential locks – so you can go anywhere

Portal axles with disc brakes. Thanks to the portal axles,
the axle housing tube and thrust tube are situated higher
than the centre of the wheel. The effect: you win with the
Unimog’s extremely high ground clearance and can drive
easily over obstacles up to 50 cm high.

Portal axles combined with large volume tyres give very high ground clearance

Gradients of 100 %, water depths up to 1.20 m: child’s play for the Unimog
Central tyre inflation system (Tirecontrol). Always the
right tyre pressure. A further plus when driving over
challenging or soft terrain: Tirecontrol, the optional system
for adjusting tyre pressures quickly and flexibly to suit
changing surface conditions while on the move. The air
pressure is lowered at the touch of a button to increase
the tyre contact area, thus preventing it from sinking into
soft ground and so increasing traction.
Single tyres. Unlike normal four-wheel drive trucks with
twin tyres at the rear, the Unimog has four single tyres. The
rear wheels always run in the compressed tracks created
by the front wheels. The advantage: lower rolling resistance
and more traction through interlocking of the tyre profiles.

Versatile like no other
Mowing with three mowers simultaneously in the summer, and clearing
roads of snow and ice with a snowcutter or snowplough and gritter in
the winter – only the Unimog can manage that. Thanks to its unique
implement-carrying expertise the Unimog is highly economical. With
up to four implement/body mounting points it can complete tasks
throughout the whole year, which are just not possible with any other
vehicle. You even get a choice between three product ranges, too. That
means you get a vehicle that is perfectly tailor-made for your particular
requirements. And due to the many decades of cooperation between
Mercedes-Benz and implement/body manufacturers, expert knowledge and 60 years experience in development can be combined to

implement-carrying concept you are more mobile than with
any other vehicle. Just one example: up to 4 attachment and
mounting areas with integrated, standardised interfaces for
implement control and operation. This means you can cope

The heart of the Unimog – its modern Euro 5 engines.
They combine efficient power performance with low
fuel consumption as well as exemplary environmental
compatiblity. The Unimog’s strength comes from its up
to 210 kW. And here you have the choice between a
driving and a working mode, depending on the job. Also
pioneering: BlueTec. With the SCR diesel technology
from Mercedes-Benz you can lower your fuel consumption, reduce your vehicle emissions by up to 40 per
cent and fulfil the European emission standard Euro 5.
