Any student that raises their goal of $50 will be entered into a drawing to win exciting prizes like Zoomers, Bamboozles, PDQ, Marsalas Pizza, Target, Great Clips, Pizza Hut, Beef O' Brady's, The Olive Garden, First Watch Restaurant, & much more! PAGE 2 T H R E E O A K S E L E M E N T A R Y N E W SL E T T E R VOLUME 1, ISSUE 4 Journey Through the Orient with 2nd Grade. They learned about culture, food and history. All new and returning volunteers who did not attend the orientation last year must attend the 2015-2016 Volunteer Orientation prior to volunteering. We are offering one more Volunteer Orientation for your convenience: Thursday, November 5th at 6:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. This is an important meeting regarding our volunteer program. Box Top Contest: The PTO would like to thank everyone for a great TOE effort to bring in box tops with just over 11,500 box tops submitted! We had two winners this time with a pizza party awarded to Mrs Tumbleson’s 4 th graders and Mrs. Pineau’s 2nd graders. Runner ups went to Mrs. Dever’s 1st graders and Ms. Korpi’s 4th graders. Individual awards include most box tops going to Brycton Archer with 331. Others who submitted over 200 go to Austin Welker, Brady Knutson, Justin Breitenstein and Halley Camper. Most creative collection sheets go to Ayden and Alexis Moore and Cruze Craig. A very special “thank you” goes out to Mrs. Belle for her generous and creative contribution to our box top drive, designing our first mascot costume! Thanks again everyone and don’t forget to keep clipping for our next contest in December! We are also collecting labels for Education and Tyson labels throughout the year. Thank You for all the donations for the Canned Food Drive. It was a huge success!!! Notes from the Clinic: “Annual Health Screenings for grades K,1 and 3 will be October 21,2015. The screening includes height, weight and hearing screenings. You will be notified by the school nurse if there are any concerns or if further evaluation is needed.” Beth Wipf R.N.,M.S.N. School Nurse Counselor Corner: Friday, Oct. 23rd: Wear Orange – Stand up for others! Week of Oct. 5th: Introduction to Bullying Prevention. Talk about the definition of what is bullying: 1. Repeated mean behaviors to one student or several students by the same person or persons. 2. Intent to harm- not an accident 3. Unequal power- Physical, Social or Academic Week of Oct. 12th: Make friends with someone you don't know at school. This can include a Mix It Up (http:// www.tolerance.org/mix-it-up/activities) at Lunch Day that encourages students to sit with someone new at lunch and engage in positive conversations to make connections across boundaries. Week of Oct. 19: STAND Up for Others Week.( http://www.pacer.org/bullying/wewillgen/#curricula-4a) Teach and support students the importance of not being a bystander and to stand up when you see someone being bullied. Be a part of the solution, not the problem. Carry the message to STAND UP. Oct. 23rd: Wear Orange to represent Unity Day, National Bullying Prevention Center campaign. Week of Oct. 26: Think Before You Type Campaign. The goal of this campaign is to raise awareness about cyberbullying, promote positive self-esteem, and encourage other young people to use the internet for good. This is the last year Target will run this program (ends 5/14/16) so we need to have more families get online so you can contribute 1% of your holiday spending to your school. Picture Retake Day - 11/17/15 Picture retake will be Tuesday, November 17th. For Retakes - Be sure to return your original portrait package with your child on Retake Day and write “Retake” on the envelope. To Purchase Portraits - Pick - up a portrait envelope in advance from the front office and follow instructions. Pictures are prepaid only and no late orders can be accepted. Please make checks payable to Lifetouch. Volunteer pictures will be taken from 7:30– 8:00a.m. Any volunteers who were not able to get their Volunteer ID picture taken during the first picture day may do so on retake day. This is not a requirement to volunteer. This will be the last opportunity to get a Volunteer ID picture. If you have any questions, please contact the office at 267-8020.
