Miss Hoover Pageant to be held August 9 –
Sponsorships Needed!
The second annual Miss Hoover Pageant will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2008, at 7:00 p.m.
at Spain Park High School. Sponsored by the Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce, the event
is one of the earliest local preliminaries for the Miss Alabama Pageant and is open to qualified
young women in our state between the ages of 17 and 24.
Following a year of appearances representing her hometown, Jessica Headley, the reigning Miss
Hoover, competed this summer for the title of Miss Alabama, placing fourth in the overall
competition. Tim Gann, who has extensive experience with the Miss America Organization
and directed last year's pageant debut, will once again serve as Pageant Director.
Due to the popularity of last year's Miss Hoover Pageant, this year's event promises to be even
bigger and better than before but WE NEED YOUR HELP! There are several ways you and
/ or your business can support the Miss Hoover Pageant. Sponsorships include prominent
placement on the Miss Hoover website at www.misshoover.org, recognition in the 2008-2009
Hoover Magazine, Chamber newsletter, advertising space in the commemorative event program,
and much more.
The Miss Hoover Pageant awards $5,000.00 in scholarships, along with thousands of dollars
in prizes, making it one of the most prestigious and desirable pageants throughout the area.
Each year, thousands of dollars are awarded through local pageants to contestants who wish to
Miss Hoover Jessica Headley represent their community and further their educational and personal development. Funding
poses with 2007 Chamber President for scholarships relies solely on individual and corporate sponsorships which contribute to the

Alexa, at last year’s pageant.
From door prizes to donations, you can help make this year's Miss Hoover Pageant another
showcase event for Hoover while promoting your business at the
same time!
For more information on sponsorship opportunities, please contact
Susie Collins at the Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce at

13th Annual Chamber Golf Classic Set
for Monday, August 25
Mark Your Calendars!
The 13th Annual Hoover
Area Chamber Golf Classic will be held Monday, August 27,
at Riverchase Country Club. Once again, the tournament is
expected to be a sellout, with some 130 golfers participating.
St. Vincent's Hospital is the Title Sponsor of the tournament for
the fifth time. Our Luncheon host and Gold sponsor is AT&T
- The Real Yellow Pages.
Following tradition, the tournament rotates among Hoover
area private clubs, with past tournaments held at Inverness,
Riverchase, and Hoover Country Clubs. This year, it will again
be at Riverchase Country Club, one of the best courses in the
area. The event is the biggest of the year for Hoover Chamber
members, with dozens of members playing, and dozens more
volunteering. The tournament is also the major fund raising
effort of the Chamber, providing over $10,000.00 in scholarships
for area students.
Dozens of Chamber members and staff participated in the 2007
Registration cost includes two mulligans for each player, Golf Classic either as volunteers or players. We expect another
unlimited soft drinks, snacks and water plus a continental sell-out tournament again this year so mark your calendars for
breakfast and lunch buffet. Registration for a 2-man team August 25!
is $300.00, or for a foursome (two 2-man teams) $600.00.
Corporate sponsorships, which includes all golf fees and hole sponsorships, are available for $1000.00 (Gold), $750.00 (Silver), and
$500.00 (Bronze). Non-golfing members can also participate as volunteers and/or Hole Sponsors ($250.00).
As in the past, we will play a "two-man, modified best ball" format." Players play together as a two player team, sharing the better
drive off each tee. From there, each player hits their own ball all the way through to sinking their own putt. The lower of the two
players' scores on each hole is the team score. This allows each player to play their own game, rather than being required to hit from
someone else's position. It also allows the play to move along at a faster pace. However, as in any tournament, players can expect
almost five hours for a complete round. Teams will be sorted into three flights after scores are turned in with identical awards given
for the top three teams in each of the three flights.
