Limitations of the equipment are also presented. Proper methods of using and caring for equipment are presented. Environments that require SCBA use are reviewed and procedures for donning, doffing, inspecting, maintaining SCBAs and changing SCBA cylinders are presented. Class will include exercises utilizing the new Clearwater Fire Academy Confidence Trailer. The Trailer can be configured in a variety of ways to simulate actual fire fighting conditions. Prerequisites and/or Required Equipment Prerequisites: None Required: Full Personal Protective equipment including SCBA. Each person in class will bring the SCBA unit that they will normally be using during an emergency and a spare bottle. PPE Required Workers Comp Required emphasis on fire behavior and the phases a fire passes through as it grows, Includes tactics to attack and extinguish fires. * Fire Behavior and Ventilation 8 Hours * Forcible Entry & rescue 8 Hours All ventilation types will be addressed, the emphasis will be on instruction in Positive Pressure Ventilation. Class will Define ventilation, List advantages of ventilation for rescue, attack, fire control, and suppression operations, List primary ventilation method used to prevent backdraft. building factors that aid in determining use of vertical/ horizontal ventilation. Special considerations associated with windowless buildings and basements. Positive pressure fans will be available for training. Identifies forcible entry tools and explains how to use and maintain them. Shows how to do “through-the-lock” entry on different types of doors. Demonstrates various methods of forced entry through three types of doors and three types of windows. Prerequisites and/or Required Equipment None 16 Hours NFA Strategy and Tactics for Initial Company Officers (STICO) Designed to meet the needs of Company Officers responsible for managing the operations of one or more companies during structural firefighting operations. None Completion of PICO class preferred 16 Hours Live Fire Trailer 8 hours Safety Officer and Accountability 20 Hours Wildland/Urban Interface s-215 20 Hours Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) Training 20 Hours Live fire training is a two part class involving basic interior attack concepts, tactics, safety, attack methods, fire behavior and nozzle handling in the morning and the afternoon will be live fire training utilizing state of the art live fire trailer. You are required to bring your PPE and SCBA. A release waiver is required. Examines the safety officer’s role at emergency scenes. Response to all-hazard types of situations will be emphasized. Safety officer 16 hours, Accountability 4 hours. Determine the Strategy and tactics to be utilized during Wildland/Urban Interface (WUI) incidents, includes fire behavior, structure protection tactics and fire scene safety. Recommended for advanced Fire Fighters and/or company officers Fire Fighter Safety and Survival. Provides the skills necessary to self-egress in an emergency and to rescue a downed firefighter using the RIT concept. PPE and SCBA Essentials required. Approval of Fire Chief Required. Proof of Workers Comp Coverage or waiver. Good physical conditioning a prerequisite. None Successful Completion of S-130/S-190 Required: NFPA compliant PPE including SCBA and forcible entry tools Prerequisite: Proof of Workers Comp coverage or waiver and good physical conditioning. Clearwater Fire Academy Email: [email protected] Course Title S-130 / S-190 Basic Wildland Firefighting Description The purpose of this class is to train new firefighters in basic Wildland firefighting skills. Firefighters who successfully complete this course will be qualified to suppress wildfires while under close supervision. Prerequisites and/or Required Equipment None 20 Hours International Fire Code 20 hours Arson Investigation 16 hours S-290 Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior 20 hours Wildland Standards for Survival Analysis of the intent of fire codes and how to apply them in individual fire districts. How to use good judgement and discretion considering the district’s capabilities, apparatus, terrain and access roads to apply the codes fairly and equitably. Instructors are Deputy State Fire Marshalls. Origin and Cause Investigation is a 16 hour training course. It is designed to provide a clear definition of the role and responsibilities of the initial fire investigation. It will provide essential knowledge to enable the student to recognize the potential of intentionally and unintentionally set fires, preserve evidence, and properly report the information to appropriate officials. The course topics include: fire behavior, critical observations of the first responder, fire causes, scene security and evidence preservation, legal considerations and reporting of findings. The course is based on NFPA 1033 and NFPA 92. It is not designed for the arson experienced firefighter or inspector. This is a classroom based skills course designed to prepare fireline supervisor to undertake safe and effective fire management operations by giving the student fire behavior prediction knowledge and skills. Refresher class for wild land fire fighters. Required for renewal of red card.
