Waterville Creates! mission is to promote, support, and grow its community’s arts and cultural
assets in order to strengthen Waterville as a vibrant creative center, increase access to creative
opportunities for residents and visitors, and advance community and economic development goals.
It delivers that mission by providing marketing and advertising services to its anchor partner
institutions, the Waterville Opera House, Maine Film Center and Railroad Square Cinema, Waterville
Public Library, and the Colby College Museum of Art. It manages a 68,000 square foot building
downtown called The Center or the Stearns Building, and it also operates the Common Street Arts
gallery and art education studio.
Waterville Creates! promotes Waterville as a major arts destination for both Maine residents and
visitors to the state. Working closely with Waterville’s primary arts and cultural entities, Waterville
Creates! is the generating and coordinating entity for arts programming and cultural collaborations
within the community.
Waterville Creates! also serves as a vibrant “face” of Waterville as the city builds its profile as
a major site for art and culture in Maine and fosters greater public awareness of and support for a
robust creative economy in Waterville.
For more information about the mission of Waterville Creates! or the dynamic art scene in
Waterville, please call (207) 616-0292, or visit its website at http://www.watervillecreates.org/
Waterville Creates will be hosting the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce April Business After
Hours at Common Street Arts located at 16 Common Street, Waterville, on April 6, from 5:30 pm to

Waterville Creates! is hosting
the April Business After Hours
Alfond Youth Center (AYC) has been pleased to serve you and your family each and every year
for the past ninety years. Its professional staff, volunteers and Board Members work diligently to
provide the best possible programs for its 5,000 plus youth members and the 350,000 people who
come through its doors. AYC is very thankful for its National partners the Boys & Girls Club of
America and YUSA, for helping provide fantastic signature programs.
It takes a dedicated group of generous people with big hearts and forward thinking to touch
the lives of young people, providing them with hope and opportunity and arming them with the
skills and values needed to realize their full potential. AYC could look back and be proud of its
accomplishments. Instead, AYC choose to focus on the challenge that remains, to look ahead and
always strive to accomplish more for its children.
Secretary of State Colin Powell came to AYC’s Facility when it opened its 72,000 sq. ft. facility
back in 1999 to help us dedicate our unique merger. He was impressed with us being the ONLY
merged Boys & Girls Club and YMCA in the country. In fact, during his speech he said “We were
the Biggest and the Best in the Country.” That statement is a hard one to keep up with over the many
years since his visit. Although our commitment is to strive to continue to live up to Mr. Powell
words, each day is another opportunity to dream big. Every day its staff is pushed to dream large for
the sake of its children!
It is about our town, our kids, our future…our responsibility.
Located at 126 North Street, Waterville, the Alfond Youth Center is hosting the Mid-Maine
Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours on March 16, from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.
