Durable, reliable and simply
SMART™
Grindex electric submersible pumps are designed and manufactured for
professional users worldwide.
Whatever you demand, there is a Grindex pump to deliver optimum
pumping performance.
50 Hz
Grindex provides SMART™ pumps
Grindex pumps are world-leaders because of their proven performance, functional
design, quality and after-sales support.
Unique features such as extended dry-running capability, patented SMART technology to guarantee correct motor rotation and motor temperature guards, enable Grindex
pumps to work day-in and day-out, without supervision, in the toughest environment.
INDIVIDUALLY SIGNED
RELIABILITY YOU CAN DEPEND ON
From start to finish, the same craftsman is responsible for all stage of assembly on each Grindex pump.
After each pump has undergone thorough testing and
has been approved, the craftsman actually signs it.
When you choose Grindex submersible pumps you
buy confidence. Grindex pumps provide the reliability
to help protect work-sites from flooding and the associated risk of damages, injuries or delays.

Designed for Easy, Economical
Servicing
Although Grindex pumps are available in an extensive range of sizes to meet all requirements, they are designed to use as many common parts as possible. Not only does this
make servicing faster and easier, it also reduces spare parts inventory.
QUALITY FOR LONGER LIFE
Grindex pumps are designed for reliable, unsupervised performance in tough applications – day in and
day out. Quality materials and design engineering
excellence give them the durability and ruggedness to
perform.
UNIQUE BUILT-IN PROTECTION
ENSURES RELIABILITY
Only Grindex pumps have air valves and the SMART
system to provide complete protection of the motor to
enable unsupervised operation.
1
AIR VALVE
As soon as the pump starts to run dry and draw air,
the airvalve automatically opens. With the impeller acting as a fan, the air is circulated around the stator
housing to cool the motor, bearings and seals before
passing out through the air valve. The feature allows
the pump to run dry over extended periods without
damage.
3
Two sets of mechanicals seals, working independently
to prevent water penetration, provide double security.
In addition, the newly designed upper seal seating
uses the centrifugal force of the oil to ensure that the
upper seal is fully lubricated at all times.

CORRUGATED STAINLESS STEEL OUTER CASING
To cope with rough handling, the outer casing of all
Grindex pumps is corrugated, giving it more than
twice the strength of plain casing. Being made from
stainless steel, the outer casings are corrosion resistant for longer life.
PHASEGUARD™ PROTECTS FROM SINGLE-PHASING
Unless all three phases are live, PHASEGUARD™ will
prevent the pump from working. During operation, if
one phase is lost then the motor will stop immediately
to prevent serious damage to the motor.
ADJUSTABLE WEAR-RESISTANT DIFFUSERS
ROTASENSE™ ENSURE CORRECT MOTOR
ROTATION
5
Electric motors can start rotating in the wrong direction. In Grindex pumps, the unique ROTASENSE™
ensures that the motor only runs in the correct direction. This ensures that the pump always delivers full
capacity without overloading or abnormal wear.
CHROMIUM-ALLOYED WHITE CAST IRON IMPELLER

TEMPERATURE GUARD PROTECTS FROM
OVERHEATING
Grindex pump diffusers are adjustable to maintain
optimum pumping performance. They are lined with
highly abrasive-resistant polyurethane or oil-resistant
rubber for higher durability.
With a hardness of 55 HRC, Grindex impellers are
made to withstand high abrasive materials such as
clay, sand, drill cuttings, etc.
Overheating can cause serious motor damage.
Grindex pumps feature three Temperature Guards to
automatically break the current if the temperature in
any stator winding exceeds 130º C (226º F).
Discharge connections for hoses,
pipes threads etc are available.
Regardless of size, Grindex pumps are easily moved by carrying
handles or eyebolts.

There are two things to consider when selecting a pump:
Head in metres (m) and flow in litres per second (l/sec).
Head: The pump head is measured from water to water, i.e. from the pit
in which the pump works to the level at the end of the hose. Thus, the
pump head will be higher at the end of the pumping than at the beginning. It is therefore important to calculate the head from the lowest level
of the water the pump will work at.
How to read a pump curve: The pump performance curves are used as
follows: suppose that you require a pump, that can deliver 20 l/sec at 16
m head.
All capacities are measured for clean water, directly at the discharge outlet. In accordance with ISO standard 9906.

Flow: Find the point 16 m on the head axis. Follow the line horizontally
straight out to the pump curve. Go vertically straight down to the flow
axis, where you can read 24 l/sec. This gives a certain flow over capacity, which is sufficient.
Friction losses: The pump curve shows the head and the flow at the
pump's outlet. When you are connecting a hose to the pump, the
capacity will decrease due to friction losses in the hose. It is therefore
important to take friction losses into consideration when selecting a
pump. Avoid losses in performance caused by kinks and sharp bends
of the discharge hose.
Chose the right size of pump. Do not oversize.

Grindex pumps have the capacity
It does not matter how much water you need to pump, or for what application, Grindex
pumps have the solution. Capacities range from 6 to in excess of 340 l/sec and
pumps can be grouped or used in parallel.
Apart from applications in construction, mining and quarrying, Grindex pumps are
also used in washing gravel and spill water applications. They are also used in many
industrial processes and by utility services.
