ALUMNI NEWSLETTER
December 2010
September-October 2010 Season Report
It has been quite an eventful season here at SVNIT, Surat. A season which has been extremely hectic but
the outcomes have been extremely rewarding. We have been reminded of just how much talent we have
on this campus and we feel honored to showcase some of them to our beloved alumni.
Message from Dean (Alumni & Resource Generation)
Get back to nostalgia. Glide effortlessly in the wonderland of memory. Think of good old days. Not so
long ago, we met under the umbrella of first alumni convention in 2001. Then it went on. We welcome
one and all, belonging to the big old SVNIT family, on 8 & 9 Jan. 2011. Amongst all equals, 1986
batchmates will be more equal, it being silver jubilee year for them.Come to SVNIT campus and enjoy a
cuppa tea at the canteen, a stroll around the library. Get shocked by the changes around hostel area, feel
pleasant amidst greenery (which was nowhere there earlier!). Compare with the good old days, while you
move down the memory lane. Don’t forget the date with us – 8 & 9 Jan. 2011.
SVNIT alumni members are undergoing hectic schedule of meetings, plannings and execution details to
make you more than comfortable when you arrive at your alma-mater.

SuratChapter
SPIC MACAY organized a series of performances this year such as Virasat'10 and Kuddiyattam. Under
Virasat perfomances of Shri Raghunandanji Panshikar, Sharveri Jamenis and Padamshri SatishjiVyas.
In future the plan is to have an 8 day Fest perfomances by 3 world class artist with perfomances in
SVNIT and other institutes of Surat.
RATTLE N HUM
This fest is all about fusing together the finest musicians of the college producing music that can’t be
explained by mere words. Rock culture in SVNIT has reached a new high with Rattle and Hum 3.0
organized by CHRD and once again, this version succeeded its previous editions in sheer magnitude and
quality.
JOYFEST
The second version of Joyfest was celebrated in SVNIT, Surat on 26th September. This time the event
saw tremendous increase in terms of donations and visibility. The event was graced by the presence of the
District Development Officer, Shri. K.D.Vora along with Registrar Shri H.A.Parmar and the active
faculty members of SVNIT including the Dean Student welfare Dr. G.J.Joshi, Dr. K.D.Yadav (PRO) and
Dr.C.D.Modhera. Joyfest, a part of the Joy of Giving Week, is a concept initiated by JAM magazine. The
youth magazine targets the young generation to create a difference and thrives to provide them a proper
platform for such activities.
Joyfest in SVNIT saw a lot of students from the School for Disabled, orphanage school at Athwa Gate
and people from the Old Age home near Udhna Magdalla Road. A one day fun fair was organized for
these students and they spend the whole day interacting with the college students. A movie screening and
lunch was also organized for these children by the student of SVNIT. All coordination and fund-raising
for the cause was handled by students of SVNIT. A student chapter of SVNIT called "initiative INDIA"
undertook the responsibility and with due support from Faculty Advisor Dr. Y.D.Patil, completed the task
successfully leaving a smile on everyone's face.
All donations in kind and cash were utilized for joyfest and the rest (clothes, toys and other articles) are to
be delivered to the established NGO Goonj. Mugs carrying the creatives about Joyfest, felicitating the
contribution of the morning joggers in SVNIT, were given as a token of appreciation to them.
AUTUMN FEST
The autumn fest of the college had “fun”tastic events ranging from technical, to sports management, to
complete all in all business events.
ENTRUMEETWith events based on sports management (Fantasy Futsal), politics (Politi-Kicks), marketing, admaking(Ad Venture) B-Plan, Market trading (Share wars), real time selling (Business Baazigar),
Virtual games (Mobile Wars), Mock CAT( CAT-AS-TROPHY) the fest this time covered many aspects
of management that had a take home apart from hoards of cash prize and certificates. Fantasy Futsal stood
out as the event that brought together the managers and the footballers of the institute under one roof. All
the events saw tremendous participation and the fact that most of them didn’t require any preparation
helped! A panel discussion was organized that put together stalwarts from the industry on the same desk.
The discussion had a huge gathering and had many take-homes.
A mega quiz that fell under the Autumn Fest banner also saw a huge turnout.
AUTOFESTAutoFest this time saw a turnaround of fortune. With sports as their theme, the events (Hurdler,
SportsXpres, RallyCross, Megates, Soccer, Rollercoaster, Contrivance, Pitcrew, The savior)
revolved around many technical concepts that are difficult to learn from books. Rally Cross once again
emerged as the frontrunner in terms of crowd and participation.
GUEST LECTURE/WORKSHOPSGuest lectures by eminent personalities and workshops (including one on Aero modeling) for the
technically enabled were organized.
Football freestylers left us stumbled with the juggling we had merely seen on TVs. B-Boying
(acrobatics) was another crowd puller.
The star attraction here was the Tech-Expo including an extravagant display of cutting edge autotechnology (Participants included Toyota, Chevrolet, Skoda, TATA ,Royal Enfield and a host of others)
and a disaster management exhibition.
