About The Institute
The institute was initially established as Sardar
Vallabhbhai Regional College of Engineering &
Technology in year 1961 and was upgraded as a
National Institute of Technology on 4th October,
2002. S V National Institute of Technology is one
of the pioneering engineering institutions of the
country which has contributed many outstanding
engineers in India & abroad. Seven UG
programmes, eighteen PG programmes and
Ph.D. programmes are being offered by the
institute. Special attention is being given to
interdisciplinary researches.
About The Department
The Department of Applied Mechanics came into
existence in the year 1961. It offers expertise in
the fields of Soil Mechanics & Foundation
Engineering and Structural Engineering. The
department has 20 highly qualified and
dedicated
faculty
members
with
the
specialization in various areas. The department is
involved in various UG & two PG programmes
(Soil Mechanics & Foundation Engineering and
Structural Engineering) and a research program
leading to Ph.D. degree. The department has
been a pioneer and leader to carry out testing
and challenging consultancy work in the fields of
Geotechnical and Structural Engineering.
About Surat City
Surat is well known for textiles, Zari and
Diamond industries. Several large scale
industries and establishments are located in the
city. The city is situated on the main western
railway route between Ahmedabad and Mumbai.
The institute is located at a distance of about 10
Km from Surat railway station and 7 km from
Airport.
Indian Geotechnical Society,
Surat Chapter
The IGS Surat chapter is one of the oldest
chapters in India. The members are from
engineering institute and many professional
organizations. The members of the chapters
have organized and participated in several
national and international events. The IGS Surat
chapter has organized IGC 1982 and 1991 and
several Seminars and Training programmes are
actively organized.
Eligibility & Registration Fee
Engineering College / institute’s, Government
Engineers, Polytechnic faculty members,
Research Scholars and M.Tech students are
eligible to participate in the National Seminar
having Bachelor of Engineering (Civil). The
Registration fee for participants is Rs. 1000/(Rupees one thousand). The payment may be
made by cash / Demand Draft drawn in favor of
“Director, SVNIT Surat” payable at Surat. The
Registration fee includes participation in
seminar, high tea and lunch.
Registration will be limited to 40 participants
only.
The last date for Registration is 05/08/2016.
