Youth: Martha chose to serve, Mary chose to sit at
Jesus' feet and listen to Him. Of those two actions,
service or prayer, which do you feel more
comfortable with? Why?
Adults: The Gospel today invites us to serve and to
be hospitable. When did you welcome Jesus into
your home through the presence of a neighbor or a
stranger?

Youth Ministry Reunion
Hear ye, hear ye!!!! All who were involved in the
Diocese of Beaumont Youth Ministry over the last 50
years as members, advisors, or in any other way are
invited to a reunion on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at
the Beaumont Event Center (700 Crockett Street,
Beaumont, Texas). We have the facility reserved all
day, so feel free to meet old friends on the lawn for
lunch and fun. We will celebrate Mass at the
Historic St. Anthony Cathedral Basilica (700
Jefferson Street, Beaumont, Texas) in Downtown
Beaumont at 4pm if you would like to join us. We
hope to have vendors with food near the Event
Center after Mass. The reunion will start at 6pm
when light hors d'oeuvres will be served, and
reminiscing about past memories will take place
among great friends. We have rooms reserved at the
MGM Elegante for those coming to town and
needing a place to stay. PLEASE SPREAD THE
WORD!!!

In the next weeks, we focus on the Spiritual
Works of Mercy. They have long been a part of the
Christian tradition, appearing in the works of
theologians and spiritual writers throughout
history. Just as Jesus attended to the spiritual wellbeing of those he ministered to, these Spiritual
Works of Mercy guide us to "help our neighbor in
their spiritual needs".
PRAYING FOR THE LIVING AND THE DEAD
Prayer is one of the most powerful ways we can support
others. Joining together in prayer for the living and the
dead entrusts us all into God's care.
• Request a Mass intention for a friend or family
member who is going through a tough time
• Request a Mass intention for a friend or family
member who has passed away
• Keep your own book of prayer intentions, writing
down the names of those who you are keeping in
your prayers
• Ask a friend or family member if there is anything
you can pray for them about
• Through prayer, entrust your cares and concerns for
those around you to God
