ArraignmentsHighway Police “Z” Tickets Thomas E. Ward, 61, Broken Bow, forfeited $30 +cost, fees for operation unsafe CMV. Pike County Circuit Court 1/6/14 McKayla Wood, charged with permitting the abuse of a minor, plead guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 10 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections (ADC) with four years suspended and a nunc pro tunc (“now for then”) order that subtracts another 340 days off her sentence. Wood was also ordered to pay court costs and have here DNA entered into the convicted felon database. Christa Davis, charged with probation revocation, entered a not true plea and will face trial on the charges on Feburary 21. Michael Howard, Jr., charged with probation revocation, breaking and entering and theft of property entered a true plea and will have his probation extended by one year. Tanner Spurlin, charged with possession of a controlled substance – marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, was ordered to report back to court on February 21. Charles Williams, Jr., charged with internet stalking of a child, made a first appearance and entered a not guilty plea. Williams is scheduled for pretrial on April 7 and trial on April 17. Christopher Love, Jr., charged with illegal possession of a firearm, plead guilty to the charges and was sentenced to six years in the ADC with four years suspended to run concurrent with his current parole order. Love was also ordered to forfeit the weapon. Noah Miller, charged with fleeing and aggravated assault, entered a not guilty plea and a mental evaluation was requested. Russell Isbell, charged with hindering apprehension, saw his charges reduced to a misdemeanor level. Allen Matthew Jones, charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, entered a not guilty plea, and is scheduled for pretrial on April 7 and trial on April 17. Jones was granted a bond reduction to $25,000. James Haas, charged with illegal possession of a firearm, had Greg Vardaman appointed as his legal representation and entered a not guilty plea. Haas is scheduled for pretrial on February 24 and trial on March 13. Johnson, whose bond was reduced to $15,000, had a pretrial date of April 7 and trial date of April 17 set. Jason Jerome Williams, charged with possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and carrying prohibited articles into a correctional facility, made his first appreance before the court. Williams is to hire attorney Michael Crawford and will report back to court on January 13. Marty Howard, charged with second degree battery, public intoxication, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, will report back to court on January 10. A bond reduction request was denied by the court in denying bond altogether. 1/10/14 Barbara Batchelor, charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, plead guilty to the count of methamphetamine possession and was sentenced to 5 years probation under Act 346, Arkansas’ First Offender Act. Batchelor was also sentenced to a $500 fine, court costs to be paid within 90 days, a $100 police drug assessment fee, and entry into the DNA database. The charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was nolle prossed. Teddy Spell, charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, plead guilty to the count of methamphetamine possession and was sentenced to 5 years probation. Spell was also sentenced to a $500 fine, court costs to be paid within 90 days, a $100 police drug assessment fee, and entry into the DNA database. The charge of possession of drug paraphernalia was nolle prossed. Leann Watts, charged with criminal trespassing, delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with purpose, was granted access to drug court in Howard County on Wednesday, January 15. Kartez Smith, charged with criminal trespassing, delivery of a controlled substance – methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, saw his case continued to March 3. Andrew Pipkins, charged with commercial burglary, possession of a controlled substance with purpose and simultaneous possession of firearm and drugs, plead guilty to the charge of commercial burglary and was sentenced to four years in the ADC with two suspended. Pipkins will be eligible for a transfer to the Arkansas Community Correction Center after the successful completion of drug rehabilitation. Pipkins was also sentenced to pay court costs, a $100 police drug assessment fee, and entry into the DNA database, as well as to returning a gun to Janice Ward.
