Every application is unique, so each situation requires an individual
assessment for flykiller siting, however, there are basic principals that
should be followed

Recommend enough EFKs to cover the area to be protected
Õ
Install EFKs away from sources of light competition, such as
windows, doors and high powered luminaires
Õ
Consider sources of heat and airflow, such as heaters / AC units
Õ
Don’t install EFKs directly above sensitive areas, such as food
preparation areas

Glueboard units should be used in sensitive applications such as food
preparation or production areas

Consider access for installation and future servicing

Wherever possible, flykillers should be positioned at 90° to sources

HOW OFTEN SHOULD UV TUBES BE CHANGED AND WHY?
We recommend that UV tubes are changed every 12 months to ensure maximum efficacy.
The levels of UV produced by fluorescent tubes deteriorates rapidly throughout the life of the tube. Whilst
the tube will continue to glow blue or green indefinitely, after approximately 8,000 hours the amount of
useful UV (Which humans cannot see) drops to a level where it is no longer attractive to flying insects. As
a result, UV tubes must be replaced annually to ensure they remain effective in producing useful levels of
UV. This replacement cycle is typically undertaken just before the peak insect season, (March/April within
Europe) to ensure the flykiller is producing the maximum amount of UV throughout the critical insect season.
Easily recognised by their glowing green light, Synergetic® tubes have been developed to attract a much
wider range of flying insects than traditional blue UV lamps.
Extensive testing has been carried out over many
years by independent entomologists and test
laboratories, showing the benefits of green light in
combination with UV.
A wide diversity of insects were shown to be more
attracted to Synergetic® light, including greenhouse

SHATTERPROOFING
Shatterproof tubes provide peace of mind in sensitive areas by retaining
glass shards if the tube is broken. All our ranges can be shatterproofed,
ensuring that you can choose your ideal tube to help you protect even
the most sensitive areas, including food preparation and assembly areas.
Shatterproof tubes MUST be installed in areas operating a ‘glass free policy’.
The Fluorinated Polymer (FEP) material used for all our sleeving is designed
specifically for optical transmission and allows 97% of effective UV light to
pass through the coating. As a result, the maximum possible amount of useful
UV irradiance passes through the sleeving to effectively attract insects. With
only 3% of the irradiance being absorbed into the material, the structural
integrity of the sleeving is maintained for the full 12 month life of the tube,
preventing discolouring and ensuring all glass shards are retained in the
event of a breakage.
Additionally, all our shatterproof tubes conform to the IEL61549 ‘Fragment Retention’ standard for areas where
this is considered appropriate.

Glupac® glueboards feature simple grids to make it quick and simple to monitor and record fly counts and
identify species. This allows valuable, accurate feedback to be kept for hygiene audits and shared with the

Glupac® release paper is silicon coated to ensure that it releases from the glue covered board quickly and
simply, leaving the glue in place. This guarantees speedy service times and ensures that there is no contact

WHAT IS AN ELECTRIC KILLING GRID FLYKILLER?
Electric flykillers use UV light to attract flying insects to the unit, then use a
killing grid to kill the insects, before retaining them in a catch tray to allow
hygienic disposal.
Electric flykillers are ideal for use in commercial backroom, commercial front
of house and industrial backroom areas.

With an innovative, patented* open top design to maximise light output of the
Synergetic® UV tubes, this truly unique killing grid flykiller releases light from
the back, sides and top of the unit, creating 67% more useful UV light output
than traditional flykillers utilising the same power UV tubes.

W H A T I S ATEX?
Often referred to as ‘ATEX’, the ‘Atmospheres Explosibles’ legislation is formed by two European Directives
which discuss potentially explosive areas, ATEX Directive (94/9/EC) and ATEX Directive (99/92/EC).
Any equipment designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres must be certified to these two EU
Directives. The ATEX Directive classifies the appropriateness of products for use in the three potentially
explosive environment ‘Zones’. ATEX rated products are classified for use into different groups and
categories, based on their appropriateness within different ‘Zones’.
ATEX rated glueboard flykillers are typically classified as Category 3, for use within Dust or Gas Zone 2 applications.
W H A T I S I P?
An IP rating indicates the level of protection against ingress. The Ingress Protection (IP) rating classifies
protection provided against the intrusion of solid objects and water in electrical enclosures. The first digit
represents ingress of solids, and the second of water.
Killing grid flykillers are generally rated as IPX4, whilst glueboards are IP65.

Carriage charges

Carriage is applicable to all orders and charges are detailed on your

If no one is available to sign for the delivery and the goods are subject
to a redelivery charge you will be invoiced for this amount. Should the
wrong address be provided and delivery to an alternate address is
required, a redelivery charge will also be invoiced.
Cancellation and return of goods

Orders may only be cancelled with appropriate written notice and
agreement of P+L Systems.

Dispatched orders may not be cancelled.

Orders returned after they have been dispatched, either as unwanted
goods or as part of a stock cleanse will be subject to a collection
charge and a 30% restocking fee. Any initial delivery charge incurred is
n o n -‐ r e f u n d a b l e .
Damaged/Faulty Goods Replacement

We endeavour to ensure that your goods reach you in perfect condition
every time. If this is not the case we request that goods are refused at
the time of delivery.
Õ
Any goods found to be damaged must be declared to P+L Systems
within 3 days of delivery. Any damaged goods must be made available
for P+L Systems to collect so that we can assess the goods and
continuously improve our products and services.
It is our policy to replace faulty goods within warranty, not refund their
value.
